Lions Sign Lance Moore

We're talking about who gets cut already? How about no one. How about we let this guy come in and beat someone out.

I don't know how many people watched Steelers games last year, but I am not sure this guy is making our 53 man roster at this point. I sure wouldn't call him a lock to take someone's spot.

Agree.

No but we watched Lions games and saw the production from Ross and Broyles

Two things could happen.

First, they get Ebron more involved so he has production of a top ten pick. With CJ and Tate, how many can we get Moore plus the others.

2nd, they get the ball to Moore and he has a nice year but nothing left for Ebron so we're wondering about Y3Ebron.

There could be a third option, he's 32 and nothing left and doesn't contribute at all and neither does Ebron.

The two keys to this season, in my mind, are Ebron and Abdullah. Why? Simple, you have to use the run to make the defense honest, and you have to have another threat to take some pressure of Calvin.

The big guy is not going to hold up at his age taking on two and three defenders every play. We have the bring those linebackers in, spread the DBs out, and let Calvin be healthier for it.

If the Lions want to keep Calvin healthy, that's how you do it. And if the Lions want to win titles, they want to keep Calvin healthy.

I would add in the OC. See if he will run more and use Ebron more. I'm all for Matt throwing deep and taking more chances but I'd feel better if we become a running team. At least somewhat close to 2000 yards. 28th in yards, 29 in YPA.

Hopefully with some new pieces on the OLINE and a RB we can run effectively. Maybe making it easier for Matt.

Just seems crazy to sign a guy like that and not use him. He's not a depth guy, he's a a guy that will go make plays for you.

He was a 4th or 5th option in Pittsburgh. Horrible situation for him. He's our 3rd best WR on the roster here. This is a good move because now it hopefully motivates the ypunger guys like Fuller, Broyles and Jones.

Who is beating out Moore? Fuller is the only one that I could see given the most opportunity. I honestly don't understand the Broyles situation and i'm done thinking about it. Ross is gonzo. Who else is there? I'm not sold on Fuller to be our #3. I could be dead wrong but that's how i feel.
Broyles is probably the best of the leftovers mentioned. I just think he's the odd man out for some reason.
The job is Moore's to lose.....he's the vet with the most experience and has actually put up numbers in the past.

Fuller is a deep threat. Jones is a hybrid. Broyles and Moore are good route slot guys. Mix and match. Ross had his chance

90 man roster for awhile. Let the competition begin.

Calvin and tate get 270 combined again, 150 for rbs (60 Abdullah, 50 riddick, 40 bell)80 for ebron, 50 for Moore, 50 for pet/fauria, 30 for fuller, 20 for rest. 650 attempts

I want 50 more rushes than last year too. 450. 200 bell, 150 Abdullah, 60 stafford/wrs/fb and 40 riddick/4th rb

Less stafford rushes from pressure and less sacks and more first downs can get us from 600 attempts and 396 rushes to 650 passes and 450 rushes.

450 rushes is about 10th in rushing attempts in league

And you keep 6 wrs
Calvin, tate, fuller, Moore

Broyles, jones and Ross fight for two spots

you guys are getting a little too excited about Lance Moore. He had 2 good seasons but other than that he was pretty much garbage. He will be 32 years old during training camp. I see 30 catches and 1 TD out of this pile of crap.

Agree Tom. But low risk veteran that knows the offense and should cost pennies at this point of his career. I have no issues with trying to knock the dust off him.....can just cut him if he sucks. The problem still exists that stafford can't even get to his 2nd option let alone his 3rd....so who the fuck cares who the 3rd wr ends up being.

I agree. It doesn't bother me that they signed him...just don't get excited about it. In theory there should be a guy they drafted 1 or 2 years ago that has developed and ready to contribute. I don't think that guy exists.

I'm actually surprised by the numbering of people excited about this deal, and at the same time discussing cutting Ross.

In 2014 Lance Moore had 14 catches on 27 targets for a whopping 198 yards of offense.

in 2014 Jeremy Ross had 24 catches on 36 targets for a whopping 314 yards.

Ross was actually the more productive receiver of the two last season, which is mind blowing considering how worthless Ross was. And Ross is 5 years younger than Moore.

Moore had two good years, one over 1,000 yards, and one close to it. He did have a semi-decent season of 700+, but for the most part, this guy has never been worth discussing.

He's not our #3 WR. He sure as hell shouldn't be the third option. He's a vet, who at best, can help push some younger receivers in training camp and groom them, and then should be cut faster than he was signed.

Nobody is getting excited and Moore isn't a pile of crap. I understand that it burns your ass that the Lions are trying to get better, but quit shitting on everything. All you fucks do is cry when Stafford gets help. After CJ and Tate, our WR corp is a joke. At least Moore is a savvy vet who has put up numbers in the past. He could be a valuable option in this offense. And he's cheap...

That's why Calvin and Tate went off? #1 and #2. So delusional

Ross played way more snaps. He is garbage to get such low targets. Not open

Moore is a nice 50 target option which he was for saints

Stafford proved he can go to his second options and rbs. And not just last year. Ebron no longer a rookie will help and Moore will help. Someone worth throwing to as the third and fourth option.

No, we cry when he gets more help than anyone in the history of the NFL and is still average..

Oline and run game didn't help. Not more help than most qbs. Year 2 ebron time and oline is fixed

Just because he's our #3 WR, that doesn't mean he's our 3rd option. He could be the #4 or even #5 option behind Ebron and Abdullah. Moore is a slot guy that may have some speed left. Good hands too. And he has history with Lombardi's offense. Lombardi knows him well.

Judging him from his one year in Pittsburgh isn't right either. He was behind 3 other WRs on the roster. His playing time was limited. I don't trust anyone after CJ or Tate when it comes to our WRs. How could I? They have done nothing to warrant any of our trust. At least Moore has history. That's better than anything that Broyles, Fuller, Jones or Ross has done.
