Lions working out Champ Bailey

Not sure that he has anything left, but he'd be a really good guy to bring in as a mentor.

I said that the day he was cut. I'm hoping they can come to an agreement to bring him in.

Slay worked with Woodson all off-season to get better. I'd love to pay Champ to provide some tutelage during the season as well.

you really want michchamp to give tutelage to the Lions CBs??? talk about desperate! ;P

Only a year or two older than Mathis. No harm in bringing him in and taking a look.

Mentor? We need solid depth. If we 3 decent corners on this team, then why not.

Well, this is all the result of not caring about your secondary and drafting for need. You are left with a 2nd year rookie who basically didn't play, and another guy who probably only has 1 or two years left, and is at best, a "good" CB. Had to have that TE/WR Hybrid.

That's why the Lions are looking at guys like Champ Bailey and Roc someone, they are down to Plan D.

Agreed, Slay will be fine, it's Mathis that I'm worried about, too old to play 16 games. Lose either one of those guys we are fucked.

Worth to bring him in..why not. Can't hurt, plus a hate to see a guy who's been so good go out like this. Let him leave on his own terms.

If they bring anybody in, it will be after this week, because they would get a break on salary.

You bet your ass I want him for that very reason, and you bet your ass I am desperate.

People act like Champ Bailey was horrendous the last few years, and that's just not the case. Yes, he's past his prime, and he's definitely lost a step, but he's still playing better than 50% of the CBS in the league.

The guy is 36, not 56. He's still a guy who can make plays and can make the younger players he's with better not just this year, but long term. I'd be happy to see him in Honolulu Blue and Silver, even if it's just for one year.

maybe 2 if he proves he still has what it takes? even if it isn't probowl level

I'm hoping they give him a two year deal with only the first year guaranteed. I think he can play well for two more seasons and I'd love to see him do it here.

I think he was referring about resident poster michchamp not Champ Bailey.

It not that he's no longer good, but that he's no longer healthy. He couldn't even suit up during camp for the Saints that's why he got cut. So in that case guaranteeing his first year would probably not be the best idea. If he can string a few games together though for sure take him, between him and Mathis we may get 16.

Well in that case... smartass.

Then again... what are michchamps measurables? I mean, we're scraping the bottom of the barrel now... we can't afford to look past anyone with speed.

He got a 2 year deal in NO.....but was cut in the preseason. He AGAIN has the option to pick his team and he's working out for the Lions....who aren't really even trying to sign him??

That tells me he has FEW to no other options. That means he has little left in terms of talent.

Pass.

i will say he is quite quick on the posts, often covers multiple threads with ease every day. rotates through existing posts and creating new ones based on current info with good fluidity too. :D
