I'm not sure hate is the right word. But 2nd round picks should be solid starters day 1. Maybe he is a super stud down the line but I'm getting tired of 2nd round draft picks not performing like a 2nd round pick should, and 23 catches or whatever he had is not performing like a 2nd round pick.

And the excuse I hear 365 is because he had an injury. Broyles had an injury, Leshoure had an injury, Best had an injury, Delmas had an injury. And on and on and on.. It would be nice if our 2nd round picks would perform better on a consistent level..for once. And I'm not even mentioning guys like Titus..

Either We're the unluckiest team ever or Mayhew needs to find a new job.

You win or lose on your second round/late round picks. By picking second round WR and RBs who were meant to touch the ball at most 10 times a game have been our downfall even taking injuries out of the equation. (Not to mention first round rotational DTs and FBs). So many holes from oline to dline to secondary (the study shows saftey is the best value in the second and beyond) and we're filling slot reciever and goal line game shortener running back. Lot of guys taken in the second in the last few drafts could have helped us.

We did the opposite this year so the guy must have wised up or Justin Hunter was gone before our 2 (more plausible). We've debated this ad nausium but I just wanted to point out how different this draft was and how refreshing it is to fill needs with your top three picks.

Broyles was a first round talent, had a really bad injury and was taken in the second round too. But he's a bum though while Mayhew's an idiot for drafting him, right? lol

says who? lmao. says mayhew and thats about it. Broyles was never on the map as a first rd talent cause hes a slot WR and he doesnt have the skills of a tavon austin....they arent even in the same universe. If you buy that he was a first round talent than you 1) really are masked by all this mayhew bullshit 2) have no fucking clue. Ive said it countless time but you guys are all too fucking retarded to listen......i hated the broyles pick because he was NEVER GOING TO be anything more than a 4th string WR last year....EVER! We needed people to fill holes now and they drafted yet another WR for their "future". Since you listen to mayhew so much go listen to some of his stuff where he talks about last years draft in code.....where he mentions he severely overestimated his talent in certain positions. Where he regretted not having any safety depth.

Don't try to use any logic here...Broyles is a bum because of his knee, while injury histories for Milliner and Tank don't count.

since you brought up logic: Milliner has missed 1 game.....he played with a torn labrum in the SEC....you know.....the conference that just had like 60% of the draft picks come from. It was a minor surgery....idiot. Bentley missed a ton of games and just had more surgery in feb on his shoulder....so according to your logic we should cut him i guess for being a pussy. Broyles was healthy the first part of the season....did they play him? No....his ass was on the bench. Wheres your first round talent now? I KNOW WHERE IT IS!!!!....its on the fucking bench :D First round talent my ass. And he played throughout the preseason so dont give me the "he was comming off an injury" spiel. Youre either healthy and you play or your injured and you dont. Once youre healthy and medically cleared by doctors theres no reason you should be sitting on the bench if youre a "first round talent."

And so the dance begins.

ahhh i see youre using your "maybe they might be good in the future" technique again! cause thats worked out for you. Theres a very very small chance that a 2nd round corner will ever be as good as a first round corner and you have absolutely no idea how good a back up DE from BYU is going to be. No one does. It was a good draft cause it covered needs but it was a risky draft cause no one knows how either one of those guys will translate with their lack of experience. Crucify me for wanting to take proven guys who thrived in major programs like bama and FSU. Who played nfl talent on a weekly basis....not weber state and utah state.

If they both pan out...great. Then the coaches did their jobs. But i cant really think of anyone theyve ever coached up before and Ansah is far far far away from a finished product.

I can see why you shy away from the picks of milliner and tank due to injury given the lions recent history of failed draft picks that are injured/menatlly retarded. For me the experience outweights the minor injuries. Milliner is better than slay and tank and ansah are on the same lvl in my book....heck datone jones is a quality starting DE and GB got him 20 picks later. Ansah got the edge to due the senior bowl. Mayhew probably watched him a couple times on youtube and that sealed the deal.

mayhew drafted last year like we were going to the f'n super bowl, that was my biggest complaint. He himself admitted he overestimated our talent and it sure showed drafting an injured slot reciever in the second and no fulltime starters overall (keep in mind i like broyles as a player, still hate leshoure though).

All these offensive skill positions were going to come back to haunt us and they did. Throw in injury history and the picks were ludicrous for a team that (as everyone likes to quote when they give him a pass) was 0-16 a few years ago. This draft went completely different, and apart from a minor meniscus with slay we stayed far away from any injury cases thank you very much and drafted for need. I've stayed pretty consistent on this i would have shit if they took two pup guys, if i never hear the words "injured" and "lion starter" in the same sentence again it will be too soon. I still think xanders chlorophormed that bastard till saturday night, thank god the damage had been done before he woke up, f'd up the denard pick panicked turned a five into a six and drafted a punter. Now that is the mm i know.

Ansah has much more potential than Tank and is actually less risky with Ansah being healthy.

A 2nd round CB can better than a 1st round CB. Especially Slay because has similar measurables and ball skills to Milliner. Heck Chris Houston(2nd round) is way better than Dre Kirkpatrick who is way better than Milliner.

Mayhew did a ton of homework on Ansah plus the coaches. Mayhew said so in a post draft interview. He wouldn't have drafted him otherwise. Thank the Senior Bowl for that one.

I loved this draft and last years draft as well. Starting left tackle, slot WR for Broyles and nickel CB(maybe even number 2 CB if they beat out Slay) are much needed. Anyone who hates last years draft better take a look at the roster. LT and WR were needs and Mayhew filled that need with talented players in 2012.

now were comparing Houston to dre kirkpatrick to milliner? Carlos dunlap is better than quinton couples who is better than ansah....hows that for your weird logic lol.

lol care to explain why? or are you to fucking stupid to actually explain things...fucking retard. Keep chiming in once a month to call someone a name and never posting anything related to football. DO you even watch football. fucking troll. So you think broyles is a first round talent? SF picked AJ jenkins and sat him on the bench all year in the first round before they even looked at broyles. Thats how good broyles is. No one had him in the first round. Its a typical fucking GM talking point after every draft. They all say it. Heck even Jerry jones said it about his reach on the center this year. The only difference is as soon as mayhew says anything you fucking retards believe it lol.

You said Round 2 CB can't beat Round 1. I think Slay can do better than Milliner this year. Time will tell. Slay has better measurables just lacks experience but still did well in the big bad SEC on a worse pass rushing team.

Lacey, Bentley and Green combo did better than Robinson so we'll see if the Lions can make it 2 in a row. I will laugh it Lacey plays over Robinson this year.

Reiff, Broyles, Bentley, Slay, Ansah, Warford all have great potential all fill big needs this year in Detroit. Great job by Mayhew in 2012 and 2013 early Rounds.

more of your moronic logic. we were last in passer rating outside the hashes....last. in no way was bentley lacey green better than robinson lol. i mocked robinson to us PRIOR to the draft and your still brining it up a year later lmao. mayhew had the advantage of seeing who was still on the board and he still fucked it up lol

lacey was so good we let him go, bentley is still in the ER and Green blows.

They were better. Look at the grades. Not even close. Robinson was dead last. And Florence sucked the big one and so did the Lions backup safeties not getting over to help. That' why they were bad outside the hashes.

Green was average, Robinson was the one that blows.

Ansah and Slay were good choices as were Reiff and Broyles. All have talent and fill needs. Mayhew is much much much smarter than you hughes.

And Lacey battled too many injuries. Green and Bentley can be good nickels. Heck they could beat out Slay and Slay may be the nickel. Lots of good young talent in Detroit at CB.

Stop with the F-bomb insults or might just f-bomb you out of here. Okay, I wouldn't but man that would be fun.

Watch the fucking games. All 3 were better than Robinson. Robinson had a terrible catch rate and bad rating and his coverage was poor when they threw in other directions as well. Green did well at times and was low in targets because of it which is why he graded out much better than Robinson. Same with Lacey. Lacey was average as well battling injuries.

just replying to his f bomb insult. difference is hes too retarded to include his with any type of comment on the subject matter.

Who said anything about Tavon Austin you fn clown? lol. Im calling the kid a first rd talent because that's wjhat i see in him. If he stays healthy, you'll be eating your words. I watched what he did in college and he dominated......he's a gamer.

And we listen to you, buddy. We listen to your constant rambling on how you hate Mayhew and think you're better than any GM out there. You're fn pathetic at times
