Man, Bernie Sanders is so great

If the office of the president had the same import it did in 1789, no one would be too concerned who held the office. (sic on the grammer (sic))

Jeez, even in 1945 it was significantly better (assuming you don't like tyrants) than today.

All the unilateral war powers, eavesdropping, surveillance, and drone assassination powers we've given the Executive branch since Kennedy was killed makes me think of us as more of a military junta than a democracy or a republic or whatever (I add to forestall any arguments over semantics).

Tom: you're not a billionaire; I'm not a billionaire. Neither of us are ever going to be billionaires. It's better for you; it's better for me. it's better for everyone (except the billionaires).

According to google, there are 607 billionaires in the USA. I don't believe that it would only impact those 607 people.

I just don't believe in socialism. If someone earns a billion dollars, they should be able to keep most of it. If someone only makes $30k, they should pitch in and pay some taxes.

How does one "earn" a billion dollars? this is just silly.

You can be a Democratic activist, a billionaire and a capitalist.

Just look at oh oh oh oh Oprah.

A Billion dollars doesn't go nearly as far in CA as it does say in MI. Who decides how much is too much?

Bernie does.

Bernie and the Squad.

Hey, that sounds like the title to a really good song-

?Hey kids let?s shake down billion-ayuhs together;

And with the Green New Deal we are going to change back the weather,

We?ll kill the farting calf tonight, so stick around,

We?re going to hear Soviet music solid walls of sound,

Say Candy and Ronnie have you seen them yet, And what they?ve tweeted out,

Ber, Ber, Ber, Bernie and the Squad,

Oh but they?re weird and wonderful, and Bernie he?s so really keen,
He is a cultural Jew, wears hundred dollar suits, You know I read it in a cyber-zine oh oh,

Ber Ber Ber Bernie and the Squad.

The nihilistic second verse is actually just fine the way it is.

Work at Google?

"work"... like show up, send some emails, attend some meetings, maybe write some code if youre a programmer, or attend a few more meetings and update some status reports if youre a PM or manager.

in a country with a better educational system, Oprah would still be just a local news reporter in Memphis (or wherever) and we'd all be better off.

Speaking of Bernie ...

thats all you have to do to make a billion? no wonder so many people want to work at Google - even Bernie has enough ambition to do that little ampunt of work. Hey, theres an idea - how 'bout that shiftless layabout just gets a job at google, becomes a billionaire and just gives it to the government? problem solved, everybody wins.

me too, but for much different reasons. i would never vote for this clown but he does provide some good comic relief because he is such a buffoon

I like how you're always so willing to debate ideas and positions on the merits and never result to insults or posting slanted links full of weasel words to sensationalize mundane campaign staffer disagreements

almost as much as I like how you never debate the merits of any ideas or positions and instead use weasel words, insults, hand waving and attacking the source to dismiss Bernie's hypocrisy as well as the comical failure of one of his major campaign initiatives when attempted IN HIS OWN CAMPAIGN as "mundane campaign staffer disagreements." I almost forgot - sometimes you post slanted editorials and present their opinions as factual evidence and pretend you "debated the merits." I get a kick out of that too.

Here's Congressman Bernie Sanders in 2000 calling out the GOP and the Clintons (!) for taking corporate cash to normalize trade with China. Very prescient.

He notes support for the 2 party system is going to tank for this (he was right) and people are going to start looking for outsiders to represent them (Trump... and hopefully Bernie himself). The second video in the thread nails it.

I suspect a lot of Trump supporters would agree with this take 100%; but of course Trump himself and his sleazy family make all their name-branded products in China. Will his supporters note the disconnect? Or is villifying Central Americans and Mexicans, and brutalizing the former when they cross the border all they REALLY wanted to see?

I've read a couple links about how free trade agreements generally, and this deal particularly have so gutted America's manufacturing base, that without substantial public sector investment (the private sector clearly has no interest in investing in it), no matter what tariff fights Trump picks. Trump has no plan for that, public investment being anathema to everything the GOP stands for.

Bernie went on Joe Rogan's show. It was easily one of Rogan's most viewed episodes ever, if not the most.

I read some compilations of youtube comments and it seems like Bernie himself and his political positions and arguments garnered almost universal praise from Rogan fans that were previously disinclined to like him. Generally along the lines of "Hey I only heard he was a loon and a socialist for years, but he's actually making sense" or "Why are we only hearing from him now?"

Shows you why the mainstream/big corporate media's main tactic when dealing with him has been to ignore him completely (both in 2016, and they often keep doing it now... I've seen almost too many examples to count where pundits will note or mention practically every democratic candidate BUT Bernie.

Here's the actual episode

Our boy is doing fine after his heart stent operation. Thought this thread needed to be bumped. I'm gonna give him another $100 this week.
