Mario and Rod fight, both fired, now Mario with new team

You gotta think that Gibby's Parkinsons has affected his speech where he talks slow and monotone. I like his insight.
I doubt he would be able to be more than what he does now due to the health issue.

Mario is good to ok, Rod has his moments, but sorry he is my least favorite.

If there is truth to Rod putting Mario in a choke hold, I can't see Rod back in the booth when Mario is there.

When the dust settles, one or both could actually be gone.

If the story is remotely true I see no way Rod keeps his job.

This is an unpopular opinion but I actually like Rod solely for his sheer goofiness and Rodisms. I always found it hard to believe he and Mario weren?t on good terms since they seemed to have a decent rapport together but this seems to confirm that.

The problem with our booth is the fact they talk about a bunch of shit that doesn't matter.. And they talk so darn much.. Non stop chatter about stupid things.

to be fair, they really don't have much to talk about on the field. It probably gets old talking about a shitty team.

That's the point. The old days you had the crack of the bat, good insight about baseball. And just visuals of the great game. Let us hear the sounds of the game.. Good or bad team it didn't matter.

Today it sucks.

On TV we can see what’s happening, we need only the information that isn’t evident to us; injuries, umpiring decisions that aren’t clear, pitching and defensive changes and that awesome curve ball that just fooled the hell out the guy (You know interesting tidbits about baseball).

Fan fact unrelated: I've watched clips from game 7 of the '68 series many times but it dawned on me Norm Cash wasn't wearing a helmet. As I was only 3 was it optional back then?

Edit: This answered my question:

"On this day in 1941 the Dodgers announced that their players would wear batting helmets. After some earlier rules regarding batting helmets, in 1971 MLB mandated that all players were helmets. Current players didn't have to abide by the rule.

The last three active players to go without helmets at the plate were Bob Montgomery (last game in 1979), Tony Taylor (1976) and Norm Cash (1974)."

Erie announcer called up to Detroit as part of broadcast shuffle on Saturday.

DETROIT -- Players aren't the only ones who can get called up to the big leagues.

Greg Gania, the longtime radio announcer for the Double-A Erie Seawolves, will handle broadcast duties for the Detroit Tigers radio network on Saturday.

He's filling in for regular play-by-play man Dan Dickerson, who will shift to television duties on Saturday.

The series of moves was triggered by FOX Sports Detroit's decision not to use regular TV broadcasters Mario Impemba and Rod Allen for the remainder of the 2018 season. The two longtime Tigers announcers had a physical altercation on Tuesday night in Chicago and have not appeared on air since.

Matt Shepard, who replaced Impemba as play-by-play man, was already scheduled to broadcast Eastern Michigan football on Saturday.
So Dickerson will shift to TV, and Gania will take Dickerson's spot.

Kirk Gibson is serving as TV analyst this weekend. Gania will share a booth with Jim Price, who will be honored in a pregame ceremony honoring the 1968 World Series championship team.

Gania is the assistant general manager for communications at Erie and has served in that organization since 2006. He studied broadcast journalism at Bowling Green State University.

But did they show who won the game?

Mario may survive the fallout, but not Rod. Perhaps a move to radio is in-store for Mario, with Dickerson moving to TV. Much less interaction with various color commentators on radio for Mario there. Just Jim Price and Jim's eventual replacement in the near future, upon his retirement, which is looming close-by. That new name on radio could become Craig Monroe, as Mario' sidekick. I don't see Monroe replacing Rod in the TV Booth.

If Monroe does go somewhere I can see him more on TV than the Radio.

Neither Rod or Mario have a contract after this year. DET would be hard pressed to bring either back, if both were equally culpable, or close to equally.

As I understand it anyways, the reason for the Gibby and Morris experiment in recent years was to separate Rod from Mario. That apparently didn't work.

Well I guess neither rod or Mario will be winning pick the stick this year. It’s kinda eerie how they don’t even mention them at all in the pre games like they never existed. Purged from the memory banks..unpersoned
