When we got down 5 in the second half, Denzel took the game over. Best he's looked since the injury, he was possessed. I think his conditioning is still coming back, but he looked like the best player in the country last night. People are talking about him as a lottery pick now, wouldn't have dreamed of that a year ago. I think Draymond's success is helping his stock for sure.
Most realistic finish for us is 12-6 in the conference, we have some tough road games. If we then go 2-1 in the BTT a 27-7 MSU team gets a 3 seed.
Jay Bilas ranks him in his top 10, but I don't think actual NBA scouts would be on board with that. I could see him getting into the latter part of the first round. There are concerns about his lack of athleticsm and ability to defend at the next level at the 2 to say nothing of trying to do it at the point. I'm not sure the comparison to Draymond, other than both playing for Izzo, holds water. They are different players at different positions. Draymond's success quite frankly defies explanation, which is to say I don't think one can expect the same thing to occur every time there's another player out there who shows a good feel for the game, but lacks certain physical attributes.
All that said, I expect Denzel to have a career in the NBA of some sort.
