Maui Invitational

It doesn't matter. It's college basketball. As long as you are around .500 you make the tournament.

Just have as many healthy guys as possibly by tournament time and this team can make the final four and cut the nets down if they get some breaks. My guess is Izzo uses this game as a message game. Msu is going to smash Georgia tomorrow I think. Winston needs to be fresh as possible come Ncaa tournament time.

They're good. I just think its s mistake to move Tillman to the Goins role. He's not s good enough shooter and doesn't have the ball skills to play that far out.

Goins wasnt good enough for the Goins role either. I had a feeling we would miss Ward's post play - we seem to be a little more than a reliable shooter away from being a complete team.

Guys it’s November. Never doubt the ability of your coach to shape his team into one that is formidable.

VT was 10-21 on 3's. When you add in the way Powell was hitting and also Maxey at Kentucky and the perimeter D is now a bit of a concern. They probably do miss McQuaid there, but hopefully not THAT much.

Also none of the 4's can go out and guard when a team plays small ball against us. Kithier doesn't have the foot speed. Hall got killed and couldn't do anything without fouling. Best lineup in those instances is Henry and Ahrens together at forward.

Tillman's play on offense has been really bad and I hope that gets turned around ASAP. I don't remember his hands ever being that bad. He can't catch anything right now.

I don't think anyone is panicking at this point. It's only natural that there will be some discussion around flaws currently plaguing the team that caused us to lose a game we shouldn't have.

this seems to happen a lot where teams will have their best shooting nights against us. it's tough to be too critical because at times the perimeter defense is really good and other times you have game like KY this year where they were just hitting ridiculous shots, but it seems like teams have their best shooting nights against us more often than should be the case. Seems like one of those cases where the average is good but the variance is extreme.

I think Izzo has to take some responsibility what's happening in the front court. Ward was a really solid post player, (not without his flaws like passing out of double teams) and he ran the floor/finished really well for a guy his size. He probably did have an attitude problem but I think Izzo frustrated the heck out of him by underutilizing him and benching him for minor mistakes and in favor of less talented players. And I think Tillman's and Ward's skill sets were somewhat complimentary - they could have been a solid 4/5 combination.

Nothing to do about that at this point - maybe the team should just go small and try to run everybody out of the gym like the Paul Westhead ULM teams.

Dammit, got home in time to catch the game. Bingham with the start. Hopefully Izzo let's him play through jitters

Tillman down in the post today and we look so much better. Let Bingham, Hall and Marble play that 4 and just keep Tillman at 5.

Watts might have the prettiest shot since Respert. But man is he having trouble getting them down.

Got up 28 and went to the izzo stall ball offense of working the clock down and taking as rushed bad shot late. Now a 15 pt lead

Georgia's hitting 30 foot contested 3's now. Lead down to 12

Tillman missing dunks and layups like it's his job. Lead down to 9

I would not be shocked if it comes out that Tillman is point shaving. Good lord he's suddenly awful

This team has the look of that 2010 team that brought back almost all of a final four team, had a preseason #2 ranking amd ended up barely making the tourney with a 19-15 record.

Henry is a terrible defender. Not sure why his defense has been hyped up. Both these games in maui hes just standing flat footed while his guy goes off
