Michigan vs Alabama discussion thread

You shouldn't even be here. No one likes you. Michigan isn't playing MSU this week. Nobody gives a shit about what you post.

I didn't say that your post was necessarily pedantic or semantic, but a lot of your posts are.

No one asked you to do a deep dive into what the numbers might mean. Of course, the numbers might mean other things OR they might not. Wow! That's some real genius level stuff. Maybe they take margin of victory into account? Maybe it's not all based on W's and L's. Nah...Just attack attack and attack. You see Hungry, so you attack.

I find it hilarious that my stalker has such a thing for me. Others responded to his stupid post about what he thinks the Sagarin numbers might mean, too, but he only attacks Hungry.

You're hilarious! You know I just laugh at you, right?

I think it's hilarious that you think I'm either attacking or stalking you. I didn't even quote you when I talked about those stats - on purpose because I knew you'd take it as a personal attack and blow a fit like a little brat like you do every time someone disagrees with you. I didn't realize philips would also take it as a dig against ufom so he blew his top too and then you piled on for some dumb reason and made an even bigger ass of yourself than you normally do.

But you're right about one thing, I am hilarious. And I actually do enjoy getting into it on here especially when people react the way you do to otherwise innocuous commentary. Here's a little piece of advice I know you will ignore - next time you post a bunch of stats, try not to take it personally when someone responds with other stats or context for the stats you post just because they may like a different team more than uofm. That way you're less likely to throw a tantrum and embarrass yourself.

"Both Alabama and Michigan are 0-2 vs the top 10 of Sagarin
Alabama is 1-2 vs the top 30 of Sagarin, while Michigan is 2-3 "

Analyzing this a little further

Everyone knows that ALabama lost close games to LSU and Auburn. LSU is 3rd and Auburn is 10th in the Sagarin ranking.

Everyone knows that Michigan lost to OSU and Wisconsin and that the games weren't close. OSU is #1 and Wisconsin is #7 in the Sagarin Ranking.

Looking at the games against the top 30, though

Alabama has 1 win against the top 30, Texas A&M at 18. Alabama won by 19.

Michigan has 2 wins against the top 30. Michigan beat Notre Dame who sits at 13 and Michigan beat Iowa who sits at 16. Both teams are obviously higher in the Sagarin ranking than Alabama's best win. Michigan blew out Notre Dame and had a close game vs Iowa (which everyone knows.)

I don't really know what the point of posting all of this is, because Alabama is still probably going to beat Michigan badly.

Oh I forgot

Michigan played another game against a team in the top 30, Penn State. Everyone knows that Michigan lost an extremely close game on the road in a night game at Penn State when Ronnie Bell failed to catch what would've been a game-tying TD near the end of regulation. Penn State is ranked #11 in the Sagarin Ranking.

I don't know why Sagarin highlights games against the top 30 on his poll.

One of the reasons us Michigan fans like to look at the Sagarin ranking is that it is entirely data driven without any team bias. The core group here has been talking about Sagarin in our discussions for just about 20 years now. No ranking system is without faults, though, obviously.
