San Fran and Seattle draft high round RBs. More than Detroit. We've taken high rounds at plenty of other spots. Slay,Bentley,Spievey,Delmas,Ansah,Fairley,Suh,Levy all high. You act like it's a high % of his picks. This is over several years. And years we needed RB. RB was a huge need when we took Best and Leshoure.
Trade up was necessary to get Best. Didn't give up much for Best. And LeShoure gave up a 4th really. Turned a 3rd into late 2nd.
Mayhew got the Oline. Warford Round 3 and Waddle undrafted. Raiola progressed. Peterman the problem and Gosder not a run blocker as advertised (millen 1st round pick). Added Reiff, Sims turned it around after 2010, added Warford/Waddle.

Mayhew has never been a moron. You just don't remember the context.

I remember just fine...we had an oline that averaged 0 yards when running to the right and the middle. So to fix that our braindead GM trades up for a guy with concussion problems when he could of just stayed where he was at. He didn't address the oline at all so our mush brain rb averages 3.2 ypc and gets knocked around causing him to retire by the age of 26. yup...I remember just fine.

Best did fine without the turf toe. Unlucky he got hurt. Gosder was a year 3 1st round pick. Sims was added in 2010. So a move was made. And Peterman did well in run blocking in 2009 so no need to upgrade him at that time.

2009 Raiola +11.3 run blocking, Gosder +9.4 and Peterman +7.2. Sims was added. So looks like standing pat on the right side was the right call by Mayhew for run blocking. Just needed to add Best.
