Milwaukee 127 Detroit 104 Final

Hate to say it, but this series directly shows why you pretty much need to tank in the NBA nowadays. Especially a team like the Pistons who won't attract superstars on their own.

It's hard to get fired up when you have a 0.1% chance of winning a series before it even starts. I watched probably a total of 20 minutes of actual gametime over the 4 games because we all knew exactly how it was going to play out. The NBA playoffs produce no drama in the early rounds whatsoever.

Down here in NC, the disappointment of not making the playoffs never considered that the Bucks would squash the Hornets anyway. I'd bet that Buzz City fans are claiming "we'd have done better than the Pistons."

Sadly this is true. I wonder why the nba higher ups at the league office want zero drama in the earlier rounds ?

^^^^^^A glimmer of hope is better than none and the 8th seed gets two home games worth of revenue.^^^^ And the ever-overemphasized "playoff experience to build on." Research shows that 8 has beaten 1 five times since the current playoff system came into being in 1984, and one team (1999 Knicks) made it to the Finals.

I'm never in favor of tanking regardless the sport and I'm not sure I see a positive especially when there are multiple teams who don't win many games so tanking doesn't even guarantee a top pick.

ON here when we lost people aren't happy, blame players etc, so what are we going to be like losing 60 games? People will just stop watching. And you'd still need 1 or 2 more stars to get that title..

I didn't say I was in favor of tanking. I just said you almost have to do it in order to be successful if you're a team like the Pistons. It's a sad thing when that is the case.

NBA Playoffs should only be top 4 teams from each conference (obviously this will never happen though). There has been only one team seeded 5-8 that has ever won a championship in NBA history (1995 Rockets were a 6 seed). 73% of champions have been a #1 seed. Another 24% have been 2 or 3 seeds. It's ridiculously lopsided so why bother having so many teams to begin with.
