I've got a question.

So it says that both players were signed above their slot value. Does that mean they have to sign one or two of the other below slot value? Aren't they given a certain amount of money to deal with?

They are but I believe they have extra room with the rookie cap. Like when we signed Porcello for a large sum compared to where we drafted him. $7.28 million with $3.5 million bonus. That was a lot for a late first round pick.

Tigers fourth-round pick Gage Workman will come in at $1MM, Jim Callis also reports. That’s well above the #102 pick’s $571,400 slot value. As Eric Longenhagen of Fangraphs had previously suggested, that reflects Workman’s ample leverage as a young-for-the-class college junior. The toolsy, switch-hitting infielder played his college ball at Arizona State.
