MSU basektball recruiting

just listened to an interview with Swanigan at the Mcdonalds AA game, didn't talk about his recruitment but he did mention Magic as one of his all time favorite players along with Barkley. He said that his favorite NBA team growing up was the Pistons with Ben Wallace, he liked their toughness. Both of those sound like positives for Izzo, the Magic thing not as much but it doesn't hurt knowing he's going to come watch your games and talk to you specifically. the toughness thing works in our favor, if that's the kind of basketball that you want to play MSU is the right place for you.

A name to keep an eye on is Johnathan Williams. He's transferring from Missouri and we were on him heavily out of HS.

Okemos guard Conner George to join team next year as preferred walk on. First team all state in class A this year averaging 23 pts and 10 rebs. He's the son of MSU volleyball coach Cathy George.

Adds some solid practice depth.

Im waiting to see how the Ellis/Schilling thing plays out so we can get Williams on the team.

I wouldn't say that. We did make his final 9 list recently. As long as we stay on his interest list we're alive for him. He's from Detroit and we're the only Michigan school to still be on his radar. That's at least something to be hopeful about.

what's up w/ KU? I mean, I'm used to losing in-state guys to dook and unc but have many elite Michigan kids gone there lately? Is recruiting Chicago getting so hard that Self is casting a wider net? Don't these kids know Bill Self is just a slightly better version of Thad Matta by now? It's so frustrating.

Have you been following the Cliff Alexander NCAA violations story? That's what's up with KU recruiting, has been for years. They are more than willing to deal with the middle men.

Haven't followed it that closely but I'm aware of the the story. But Cliff Alexander is a Chicago kid. Chicago kids have been going to KU pretty regularly. It seems, at least off the top of my head that we mainly lose in-state kids to dook, unc and kentucky. I don't recall seeing elite Michigan kids high on KU.

He's said all along that he grew up a msu fan but it sounds like his mom is out to get paid. Decent chance he ends up playing overseas

The number 1 player in the nation playing overseas? I figured 1 and done to the NBA here. Cassius Winston looks promising for 16 as of right now.

2016 OH PF Nick Ward commits. Top 50 player who is having a great spring and on the rise.

As much as a piece of shit the state of Ohio is, it sure has been good to us lately.

Man, if we pull Langford to go with these bigs we could be looking at an amazing team in 2 years!

We still have a chance at him, I will favor Duke to real him in but we are right in the mix. Cassius Winston is a great possibility as well. I wager we get 1 of the 2.

We have to get Langford or Cassius Winston the year after.

Yeah, he's a good big man, listed at 6-9, 235, but he's easily 250+. Good potential and he's got a chance to be a top 20 player.
It's big because it gives us insurance if Swanigan leaves after 1yr but I'd he stays two we have a lot of depth in the post. The best way to run your offense imo is inside out.
