MSU basektball recruiting

We're going to have some bigger lineups, but I hope we still run every chance we get. In 2 years if no one leaves, Swanigan, Davis, Ward, and Schilling will be a huge foursome of big men to rotate. Clark will still be here too.

Apparently we our still on Jonathon Williams III. His 4 that he's considering are SMU, Georgetown, Gonzaga and MSU. I've got to think that someone is really considering a transfer if we are still in contact with JWIII.

just a numbers game, I heard that he really wants to go to MSU but of course someone needs to leave

If he really wants to go to MSU, let him pay his own way this coming season when he redshirts and then give him a scholarship next year.

Someone will transfer though, there's not enough playing time for 13 players.

I know everyone hates Schilling but I really like that kid. He doesn't add anything offensively and he gets in foul trouble but I think he's at least as good as any post defender we currently have, he's a great finisher and he's tough as nails. I'd like to see him stay on the floor longer (foul less) so he could grab more rebounds, set screens and play defense. I think he does things that don't show up on the stat sheet - I don't know what it is, maybe I just like him because he didn't back down from those punks in the Rutgers game and looked like he was ready to destroy a couple of them. I like guy - he may be my favorite role player since DeJuan Wiley.

I sure as hell don't want Schilling to transfer, he is a good post defender and excellent on ball screens, he rebounds well and can finish in transition. he isn't a back to the basket guy but he has a decent jump hook. I don't want him playing 25 minutes next year but having him makes us a better team. JW3 would be a great addition but the frontcourt is crowded for 2016-2017 assuming nobody leaves early

Well, bad news. Calib Swanigan may be wavering on his commitment, he has to get his dad to sign his LOI and his dad will not do it yet.

Guess he has de-committed. I got tied up into the Jaylen Brown thing and was bummed out when he didn't pick Michigan. It's getting ridiculous with these kids.

The other day he said he was "100% committed to MSU". Yesterday Izzo was asked about him and said they are going through something that the Football team went through and said he wasn't worried about it. Now they are saying that Purdue is the likely landing spot.

I just hope it's his decision and not Roosevelt Barnes(his guardian and former Purdue basketball/football player) pushing him there.

Seems weird to me, but got to wish the kid well. Whatever the decision ends up being.

Heard from an insider that his dad wasn't the issue, it was all Swanigan. He doesn't want to play the 5 and purdue has 2 7 footers so he's playing the 4 for sure. I still don't know why the hell he would want to play for that shitty program bit whatever, I guess we get jw3 now

Easy come easy go. I guess we'll have to make do with Harris, Davis, McQuaid, and Ahrens joining a Final 4 team.

Good luck to him.

Izzo was limited on what he could say about it yesterday, but he sure made it sound like it was similar to the McDowell letter of intent situation.

Johnny, I know you are the most optimistic dude in America, but this isn't "easy come, easy go." The stick with MSU, as it is with the guys I root for is that the big recruits aren't coming in. This would have been HUGE for you guys to maintain him. It's not just something that is swept under the rug. It feels the same way about Brown. Michigan has a darn good team returning, but Brown would have made them F4 contenders. I think MSU is in a similar boat.

Agreed, although I still believe we're final four contender without him.

I never bet against you guys, but this dude would have solidified that. Now you never know.
