MSU basektball recruiting

Izzo was in Muskegon Tuesday night to watch Deyonta. Said he flew back from watching Langford Monday night. Flight from Alabama in the morning, an afternoon practice with the team, flight to Muskegon to watch a committ and then a flight back to Lansing after the game.

Just your average Tuesday....lol

He knows he has to land some players after a 2 year drought. The man makes a pretty penny but shows hes much more than a 9-5 robot. I wonder if Calapari makes plane flight or two or the bank wire and "hey come on in and sign after class today" while eating a donut and feet propped up on the desk is the norm for UK.:hmm:

Caleb Swannigan was visiting us for the 7th time during last night's win over Purdue. Definitely could not have asked for a better environment. The crowd was going nuts and they all stayed for the senior day ceremony afterwards.

We put our best foot forward last night, that's for sure. To see our big men shut down the monster big men from Purdue based on heart and effort had to make an impression. That was a heck of an emotional win.

I'm hearing really good things from people close to the recruitment. I heard his duke visit was underwhelming and Izzo has made him feel like family. All signs pointing to msu.
His game is very similar to randolph, tenacious post player who largely plays below the rim.

I've heard all along it's a MSU and Duke battle. Deyonta Davis and he are tight and played together on their AAU team last summer, they really want to play together in college. As good as both are, I don't see either as a 1 and done. I really like the size we would have next year if we added Swannigan. A regular 4 man rotation at C/PF of Schilling, Costello, Davis, and Swannigan would be tough for most teams to deal with. Add to that Eron Harris and possibly Josh Langford who I think we now lead for and damn, that would be an extremely talented team.

Whats the recent word on Langford, he had a long list of schools on Rivals.

Cassius Winston with a buzzer beater against Clarkston tonight with Izzo watching

Denzel, Forbes, Trice, and Costello all watching Deyonta tonight

I completely forgot about Eric Davis. I thought he was Kentucky bound turns out he's commited to Texas. Strange that a top talent from Michigan chose to play all the way there.

I saw that also. From what ive seen he was recruited by Kentucky but never offered. I suppose since he didnt hit 5 stars they lost interest.

It's mind boggling that kids sit and wait for a Kentucky offer when they could join a program that competes on the same level as them. I guess it's all about the NBA. Izzo in a presser yesterday said that high school kids would rather see players from your program drafted in the first round than win championships. I guess Kentucky offers both. I hate Calipari.

Thats the part I dont get, do you think there is more opportunity to go pro after 1 year if youre getting more playing time? Well, a good amount of these guys would be starting at another school while they sacrifice playing time there. I dont buy the "they go to KEntucky to go pro in 1 year", that would be easier at another school where they actually get more minutes. There is something amuck here and usually that thing is $.

the guys they get would be going pro after 1 year if they went to Wayne State

I think with Kentucky this year some guys stayed unexpectedly. People didn't expect Cauley-Stein to stay, or the Harrisons. People also wouldn't have been shocked if Dakari Johnson or Poythress had opted to go pro. I think the high school talent that goes there probably isn't going there intending to come off the bench, but expects the high level guys that are there to be gone by the time they get there. But it doesn't always work out that way. That's why as stacked as Calipari's teams have been there, this seems like the only year where he's really had a lot of depth.

I think Poythress has had some sort of injury this year as hes only played 8 games. Hes a Jr and could have gone after 1 year but didnt. Youre right with WCS, all major analysts expected him to leave last year, he has really developed his offensive game this year. With all the players he had last year the synergy wasnt there. All that being said, id really love to see them get knocked out. They are -110 in Vegas (to win the NC) which is better than a 50% chance they will take home the NC trophy at this point. MSU is currently +1000 or approximately 10% shot of winning it all.

Yeah, Poythress tore his ACL early in the season.

I think they can get knocked out. Duke, Wisconsin, Arizona are all capable. They're good, but the SEC made them look better than they are, and they still had numerous close calls in league play.

Good point in regards to the SEC making them look better. I also noticed in a good number of games the scores are pretty close at halftime.
