MSU first round

MTSU took it to us for most, really the entire game. We got up high single digits on Bradley a couple times then let them back in. I'm not happy w/ the performance but I'm not terribly upset about having a bad shooting night and winning by 11, even if the game was closer at times. McQuaid had the shot of the game but Winston carried the team again - the guy is unflappable.

Yeah a lot of factors for MSU to overcome in this game, but at least they got it done. I thought a key bad stretch in the game was when we were up 50-43, had stopped them on defense. One of our guys (I think Henry) saved an errant rebound and threw it out from under our basket to the 3 point line where they intercepted and hit the 3, then Goins (who needs to really step it up going forward) throws the inbounds pass to Cassius with their guy lurking who steals and gets a layup. We were looking to potentially go up 9 and maybe salt that thing away sooner, but suddenly it's 50-48 and game on again.

At that point I was just clinging to "we can't lose to a 15 seed again....can we?".

It was an incredibly physical game, the team almost wilted under it. I think we played bad, but I credit Bradley for playing like they were on fire. Just frantic all game and once they set the level of physicality that the refs would allow, it went on the whole game.

Ahrens is missed already, he would have played 25 minutes yesterday.

I think 3 games in 3 days and then playing early on Thursday is bullshit. Get rest today, win tomorrow and then get some real rest waiting for round 3.

Seems like Bradley played under seeded to me. They played more like a 8-12 seed or better. Seems like the Big Ten always gets fucked with Thursday games.. I hope all the big ten teams advance other then osu. Not sure I want us playing Msu again until Winston leaves lol.. Those games were so intense we just couldn’t make the crucial play when we needed to. You don’t see Duke or Unc playing on Thursday. Hopefully if we looked it would even out but Duke and Unc are so catered to. Hate the Acc.

I’m not positive, but I think I heard the announcers say a team from the MVC had won a tourney game in the last 8 years or something, granted Wichita state was in the MVC for many of those years and had some very good teams but thats impressive to me. Going into the game Bradley’s stats suggested they were bad offensively and solid defensively, but despite a close game I don’t think they are very good all in all. Could just be due to MVC teams being tough nosed and frustrating defensively.

Only Wisc I believe, so far. A lot of "upsets". The B10 is underestimated yet again.

Some low seeds you can tell right away wont be able to hang physically. Bradley was not one of those teams, which shouldn't be surprising coming from the MVC.


Oh well. It happens. Tennessee was in no less of a battle yesterday as a 2. So just happy we got the W.


Now if those idiot in the media and social media could stop talking about aIzzo being a meanie to Henry, we could get on with things.
