MSU Football recruiting

Hunt is a lock, Peat looks like 80%. Both of them together will give us the 23rd class on 247, 20 on Rivals, and 14 or 15 on Scout.

Rankings still aren't the end all and be all, but this class is almost all Plan A recruits for the staff. More Plan A guys than any class CMD has signed. Even more than the 2010 class that included 11 four stars. It's his best class on paper IMO.

Momentum is moving to the tone of getting better classes and thats good to see. At the same time when youve been a top 5-10 program you expect to get top 20 classes. Its a shame all the players in the South stay in the South, Id like to see us break into top 10 classes in the next few years but that would require penetrating that area. A tougher order really but Im please nonetheless.

Matthew Allen offered at OL for 2016. The best athlete of the 3 brothers and a full 2 inches taller than Jack. Champion wrestler too.

I still love the Mcdowell story. Malik said first snap of the ball they had Jack line up agaisnt him and Malik got pushed back 10 yards, That had never happened to him previously. I hope he has the same torque as Jack.

Matthew Allen is the #3 ranked HW wrestler in the country. The family days he is by far the most athletic son and could play in the D Line, but will probably play O Line in college.

Brian is more talented than Jack and played more than Jackson did in the second half of the season. He's why we will have our best O line next season. 3 straight seasons of dominant O Line play, never thought I would see that at MSU. We have had top 5-10 O lines here recently.

Hes listed at 6"2 260. To play on the O line hes going to have to gain some weight most likely.

So is Allen a guard/center? 6'2" is pretty short to play tackle. Given his current height weight, he might fit better on the D-line as a rusher.

Latest listing is 6-3, 262 lb and yes, he'll be a guard or a center, but is athletic enough to play DT if needed.

Not sure what the weight limits are in Illinois for wrestling, but I'd be he stays under the 275 presumed weight limit through wrestling season, wins a state title and then comes into camp about 290 in the summer of 2016. FWIW, I think Brian is going to be an absolute beast and be better than his brother Jack who is arguably the best center in the country.

2016 MI DE Khali Kareem committed today. Huge get and a top 250 player.

Kareem has decided to decommit and take more time. Nothing negative with the school or anything. Just thought he should play the whole process out.

Just got an offer Monday from Alabama.

Fuckem, if he tries to come back dont even consider it. people like this that dance around and are unsure are always a problem. If it was the Alabama offer then I hope he has fun competing for playing time against 5 stars..

Nah, he's still basically a silent commit, he and his dad committed, but his mom said after they left that she wanted him to look around. Would be surprised if he doesn't still end up in Green. The staff is supportive of his decision to look around, they want he and his entire family to be comfortable with the decision. He's still talking to our staff every day.

Really don't get too worked up about recruiting decommits, especially this early in the process. CMD is going to get studs, especially at DE.

So his mom and Mcdowells mom have been yucking it up or something? :lmao:

I know man, just a bit ironic so I thought id make light of it.

The thing is, there are no must get recruits for MSU. Things have changes, RB MAtt Falcon was offered by UM yesterday and his dad responded by saying, "Matt is excited about the offer from Michigan but he is still waiting on an offer from the Spartans." We offer this kid and he will commit on the spot, not sure we are offering though.

The staff is being more picky than ever.

The fact we had a few that wanted to commit that were turned down shows just that, we arent desperate. Were developing 3 star guys in the MD Era, things are looking bright my friend.

The coaches certainly are doing their part, but many of these 2 or 3 star guys were just overlooked by the recruiting services. Many of them are playing early and playing pretty well. Meaning they have 4 or 5 star talent to begin with.

Our staff must really be putting in the time and effort to find these kids that other programs aren't seeing.

That and nobody uses a redshirt better than MSU.

Also, there are very few 2 star recruits in the team anymore and must if them would be Walkons. Heck, we landed a couple of 3 star Walkons this class. Team brought in 7-10 four star guys this class and 0 or 1 two star guys. Still think we find underrated guys though. Justice Alexander is a mid 3 star who is 6-6, 245 lbs and had 22 sacks last year playing for one of the best teams in Ohio last yea and our coaches love his athleticism, he's a D1 level basketball player.

I agree with gotime on this, you're underselling waynes and dennard to call them 2 star recruits, i've done this myself but these guys were very good football players that just happened to be overlooked. I think those guys did well at MSU partially because of the coaching but I'm sure they would have outperformed their rankings at another school

Bell was a 2 star recruit as well, he was 6-1, 220 lbs in high school and ran a 4.47 forty at a camp before his senior season. He ran for 16 or 1700 yards as a senior against top competition in Columbus. So why a 2 star? Ohio State was filled up at RB so they never offered him. With the measureables and performance Bell should have been a 4 or 5 star recruit.

The services just whiff sometimes. Dennard and Waynes were studs in high school and both were uber talented the minute they stepped on the field for us. We didn't get lucky in recognizing their talent, it was evident, we got lucky in finding them.
