MSU vs UNC

Harris has missed more threes than the whole team put together this season. I can't stand UNC and we continue to get beat by them. They could have 5 white guys out there and we'd lose.

We didn't get beat by them. We beat ourselves this game.

I don't get all the hype for Dawson. There are hundreds of kids in college that can jump.

Stop it! You're taking credit away from a team that absolutely dominated us tonight. Make any excuse you want, but they bullied us big time. Dawson has been on the bench for half the game because he's getting abused down low. This is where we miss Nix.

Good to see Izzo bench all the starters. If you're not going to play tough you don't have to play at all.

WE didn't show up tonight, period! You can't tell me that NC is a better team. We played lazy ass basketball and lost because of it.

Well we didn't show up for the Columbia game or the Portland game. Is that your excuse for those game too? This team is going to struggle against teams that pound the ball down low because we have no presence down low. I'm not talking blocked shots, I'm just saying there is no beef down there. The same problem is on the offensive end. We can't throw the ball into anyone except Payne and he's become more of a shooting guard than a center lately.
This team has weaknesses, we struggle when teams slow us down and we're an average rebounding team right now. Dawson has been talking all summer how they're one of the best teams and so have the other players but they're playing with no heart. Where is the slapping of the floor that we've seen the past few years? The beating of the chest? This teams expects the opponent to just roll over and forfeit. Dawson is still atrocious on the offense end, he's made very little progress since freshman year. Shaq shoots free throws better than him. Harris and Payne are living on the 3 point line and that's not helping anyone.

What the Fuck was that?

wow, this looks like a neutered basketball team, they're getting pushed around inside. I know Appling, Harris, and Payne were all hampered with injuries/ailments but what the hell is wrong with Dawson? is he back in the fog? the worst thing i saw was him not looking on that pass from Trice and then he got yelled at by Kaminsky of all people for not helping on the interior. Gauna looked terrified in 2 minutes of play. we have no interior help for Payne and he was winded and hurt all game. this team may be in real trouble

well, the silver lining is you don't have to worry about keeping all those first place votes next week.

Damn, I just got hit with a stone. It must be coming fron that glass house over there.

I'm really worried about this team now, there were some things that i was able to ignore earlier but..

-i'm sick of Dawson showing effort in 3 out of 4 games
-injuries are mounting, this foot thing with Payne can linger all year, just like the Harris ankle
-no rebounding, i hate not being a typical izzo team, we can't continue this way
-no depth behind payne, when he's gone, we're in big trouble
Costello may have mono

this team could be in trouble

The lack of rebounding is puzzling. Nix was alright there but nothing special. A lot of his rebounds were off his own missed bunnies too. This team doesn't get much help rebounding from it's guards like many of Izzo's past teams, however.

Agreed on the lack of depth behind Payne. Costello even if healthy would ideally be a contributing sub on a title contender team, not a starter. Schilling isn't ready yet and Gauna has proven he's pretty much a zero. Then add in the fact that Payne sometimes likes to float to the perimeter.

This team has some holes but some definite strengths and will have to learn to accentuate the strengths, ie getting out in transition, beating teams with devastating spurts by forcing turnovers to make up for other inconsistencies, and a more perimeter oriented offense.

There is the last 7 minutes of the 1st half Spartans and there is the other team. Have we ever had a year in the last 15 where one of our top 2 players didnt have a significant injury? Starting with Mateen there is someone ailing (one of our top guys) EVERY YEAR. We got UNC's best shot as I knew would happen. No rebounding boxing out or simple effort, No B10 Championship or NC..

So far this team reminds me of the '91 squad - buying into the hype and trying to get by on their ranking. That team lost more talent (Hickman, Manns and Redfield) but except for Steve Smith, they lacked heart.
