NFC Playoff Thread

I wonder if Rodgers plays in week 17. Even with him GB is not one of the best teams but I could see GB beating Chicago and Green Bay getting a win in the playoffs.

In our little poll I had GB winning the North with just this scenario. ARod comes back next week to seal the deal.

How does Arizona get into the playoffs? With them winning against SF and NO losing do it?

I'll check, it looks like Arizona will need to finish with a better record than one of of the 2 WC teams to get in.

SF holds the tiebreak over Arizona regardless of what happens next week when they play each other. An Arizona win puts them 1-1 against SF, but SF is still 4-2 in the division vs Arizona's 3-3.

It'll be easier to sort this all out after tonight's game.

Thanks Grandy.

If SF losses tonight then the winner of SF - Arizona gets it. Or if NO losses and Arizona beats SF then Arizona gets in while NO sits. Now if SF losses tonight and next week while NO also losses I'm not sure who gets in..

NO has the head-to-head advantage over SF, so NO would get the spot in a 2-way tie.

Now here's something shitty

If SF wins tonight
NO wins next week
and Arizona beats SF next week

Arizona is out

San Francisco clinches a playoff spot with the win

They also remain alive in the NFC West

The wild card will come down to New Orleans, Carolina, and Arizona, I'll post scenarios tomorrow

I thought Carolina was in already..

NFC Wild Card Scenarios

No NFC North or East team can win a wild card spot at this point

Arizona-SF will likely have the biggest impact so I'll use that as a reference point.

Scenario 1 - SF beats Arizona

5th seed
Seattle wins or ties: San Francisco (12-4)
Seattle loses: Seattle (12-4)

6th seed
This spot automatically goes to New Orleans, unless New Orleans wins and Carolina loses, then Carolina gets this spot

Scenario 2 - Arizona and SF tie

NO wins and Carolina wins or ties: 5th - SF (11-4-1), 6th - NO (11-5)
NO wins and Carolina loses: 5th - SF (11-4-1), 6th - Carolina (11-5)
NO ties: 5th - SF (11-4-1), 6th - NO (10-5-1)
NO loses: 5th - SF (11-4-1), 6th - Arizona (10-5-1)

Scenario 3 - Arizona beats SF

NO wins and Carolina wins or ties: 5th - NO (11-5), 6th - SF (11-5)
NO wins and Carolina loses: 5th - Carolina (11-5), 6th - SF (11-5)
NO ties or loses: 5th - SF (11-5), 6th - Arizona (11-5)

I feel bad for Saints or Cards or San Fran now. One will be out and replaced by shitty Bears or shitty Packers.

I'm hoping for Arizona. That team has impressed me. Even when they beat us they didn't look very good, that defense has improved and they're getting it done.

So if Lions win Sunday. They actually finish 2nd in the division. Would play loser of Eagles/Cowboys and either at San Fran or at Seattle. Don't think Cards can move up from 3rd. 3rd would be Giants and at Cards.

Scheduled game times for NFC playoff-relevant games on Sunday

Panthers @ Falcons 1pm
Packers @ Bears 4:25pm
Bucs @ Saints 4:25pm
49ers @ Cardinals 4:25pm
Rams @ Seahawks 4:25pm
Eagles @ Cowboys 8:30pm

Carolina clinches the NFC South

Carolina could get the #1 seed if Seattle loses and San Francisco wins, otherwise they'll stay #2.

Packers leading Bears
49ers leading Cardinals
Saints leading Bucs
Seahawks leading Rams

Green Bay wins the NFC North

Chicago is eliminated

Seahawks and Saints win

Seahawks clinch the NFC West
