NFL.com says Lions need to let Stafford go

PAY THE MAN. He's worth every penny. He's done so much for the franchise and they've been nothing but successful.

And how bad was our defense in those years??

How much does that have to with Matt Stafford.. Outside of 2011, he's been very consistent. Whether you think he's top 10, top15 or top 25.. he's not any better in Linehan's offense. Outside the 1 year.

The season is in the shitter....they might as well let him throw the ball around. What's the worst that could happen at this point?

Doesn't have anything to do with Stafford, but you mentioned wins. Of course you put 100% of those losses on Stafford but fail to recognize that our defense has been a fkn joke with Stafford as our QB. Recognize that.
And i have always thought Stafford was an above aerage QB in this league, but he was much better in Linehan's offense. You're a complete idiot if you cant see that. All of 2014 and 4 games in to 2015 and you still think he's the same QB? Lol. Look at the numbers...they dont even compare. Lombardi is handcuffing this offense. That or get a QB that fits this O because Stafford doesn't.

Who's talking about wins? I'm saying whether they win 7, 4 or 11 - Matt Stafford is not good.

Up into the point we lose by 40 because Matt Stafford can't hit an open Calvin Johnson when he's wide open. As a devils advocate since the season is in the shitter why not just start Dan O.? And have him throw it deep.

You did, you schmuck! You said we won like 11 games in 2 years.

I was responding to the fact when we win 11 wins he's good, when we win 4 it's the defense. Or the OL or the coaching. It's all of it. But he hasn't lived up to his 1st round billing.

I can somewhat live with that. I don't think anyone is really giving Stafford all the praise for those 11 wins. Who is btw? Defense was lights out last year and had us in games all year. Can't discredit Stafford for those 4th quarter comebacks though....he was a huge part in that.

Are comeback wins really a sign of a good quarterback though? Sure, they're nice and give you warm fuzzies for a week, but I look at a guy with a ton of comeback victories and I'm like, "well, why are they always HAVING to come back?" Do your job in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd, quarters and you don't have to comeback in the 4th. And even then it usually centered around him heaving the ball upward like a glorified punt to Calvin in triple coverage. Any idiot can do that. DANNY-FREAKING-O can do that, when he's not standing half outside the endzone. I can count on one hand in Matt's tenure where they've had victory where they could kneel it out 3 times after the 2-minute warning. Even last year the majority of the 11 victories were clench your buttocks for the final 5 minutes.

And so many times after a boneheaded turnover or something else bad goes their way (missed calls) the camera cuts to Matt on the sideline shaking his head or looking at the ground like a pussy-whipped bitch. The elite guys like Rodgers and Manning and Brees are rallying the troops on the sidelines saying "Hey that didn't go our way, let's see how we can be better and go get 'em next drive." He may as well go sit in the locker room between offensive drives for all the leading he does. He just hasn't proven himself to be a leader, in any shape or form. So let HIM call the plays?? Ha...good luck.

I hope the QB stock in college is good this year so they can start thinking about drafting his possible replacement. I tried to be a fan of the guy...I really did...especially after throwing that winning TD with a dislocated shoulder. But I just can't do it anymore. And changing coaches won't help...they already tried that and he's gotten even worse...

I think they're good if said QB did anything prior to that in the first three quarters. Can't quite remember those games to know if that's true. As far as drafting a QB, it'd be nice if we didn't have to count on Dan O. if an injury happens.

I'd say it was the other teams fucking up more than stafford being good. I've never seen mistakes like the atl and no game....it was ridiculous how bad they gave those games away.

That speaks to why Manning is still superior to Stafford at his age. I know they don't show what's going on at the sideline 95 percent of the time, but whenever TV cuts to the QBs, Manning has his head buried in those black and white pages, and Stafford is just walking around with that look. I'm sure he studies and reviews, but there is a reason that Manning is known as one of the smartest guys to ever play the game, and I don't think that "student" aspect is something Stafford has adopted.

Read the article until the end.

"Seven years into his professional career, Stafford remains far too inconsistent, and not surprisingly, so are the Lions."

That's the media's opinion. Again. Media is dumb. The coaching quotes is what you need to take out of that article.

Stafford is going nowhere. Extension probable.

It's hard to believe sometimes that Matt's already in his 7th season. He's not a green, wide-eyed, raw rookie anymore. If he hasn't overcome his basic faults by now, will he ever?

Stafford's faults are his run game and protection has turned to shit due to injuries.

Bell had ankle surgery. Maybe that is why he was so damn slow.
