Niners

sure he does....He was NFL Coach of the Year....a 1st round NFL Draft pick as a player , made a Pro Bowl , won NFL comeback player of the year , AFC Player of the Year , and was a runner up MVP.

while Schwartzy geeked it out getting Bellichecks coffee and learning the game that way.

Well, I wasn't adding in his experience as a player as part of it  As far as coaching, and Mayhew gets a big nod here, SF was bad when Harbaugh took over but nothing like when Schwartz took over.

Though he did get a QB right off..

gotta say i love harbaugh.....wish he was michigans coach still. you guys geek out on hokes recruiting classes (i give him credit as well).....harbaughs would have been light years beyond anything hoke has put together.

the one advantage with hoke, he is in his dream job and recruits know he will be the UM coach until he retires which is what, 20+ years down the road...barring unforeseen issues naturally.

with harbaugh, there would always be that element of whether or not he wants to coach at nfl level. with every championship there would be that elephant in the room while they are celebrating. for hoke there will only be the question of "how many more championships will he achieve?"

i personally appreciate that dedication and love not having to be stressed about coaching changes. plus i think he is a better teacher and disciplinarian. he prefers teaching to screaming, but guys know when he is pissed nonetheless.

Uhm, and why is that wrong?

If you can get one championship out of a coach you are doing great! The odds are against Hoke getting one so if you think Harbaugh would have gotten one and left the year after....that's a win!

if you re-read my post correctly, it is basically stating they each win one...not that harbaugh wins one and hoke does not. the only thing wrong with harbaugh winning the championship is the elephant of a question as to whether or not he goes to NFL; whereas the only question in hoke winning a championship is "how many more will he win?". i'll take the guy who wants to stay and win multiple championships over the guy who will likely bolt after winning one. i personally believe either guy could win one, i just prefer keeping the guy who will stick around and provide a strong chance to win a second or more over the guy with dreams of the nfl.

i know, i know...get back to you after hoke finally wins one, right? well, he has a helluva better shot at winning it than harbaugh so i'm sticking with the horse that is actually in the race because that is his dream. harbaugh's dream was the nfl.

does that clarify things for you guys?

I hope this thread doesnt turn into a Hoke vs Harbaugh debate. We had enough of those to last a lifetime 1.5 years ago.

It is early in the season so the spring water of hope still bubbles fervently in my spirit. This looks to be a more disciplined team now so they shouldn't shoot themselves in the foot. I think the 49ers take a late lead like last year but this time the Lions take it down the field for a winning score, instead of folding up the tent like they seemed to last year.

We struggled to beat the rams....49ers put a decent whoopin on GB. Thats obviously not how the nfl works but it should tell you we need to do alot of things better in order to win.

The spread is SF -7.5 That seems like a fairly large spead to me...but Im not a gambler. Either way, it seems like everybody is saying the 49ers are going to win this game (rightfully so). I think the Lions play their best football when they are the underdogs/have their back against the wall.

I think this game is setting up to work perfectly for the Lions. 49ers just came off of an impressive win over GB. Meanwhile the Lions struggled to beat one of the worst teams in the league last year. Combine that with the fact that the 49ers beat the Lions last year, and it just seems like everything is pointing towards this team being coming out with a chip on its shoulder and extremely focused.

Who knows..that might now mean anything in the NFL, since these are professionals...but they still are a young team. That being said..I still think its 50/50 who wins this game. I wouldnt be surprised either way

I've never gambled on football, what is the -130?

The only reason it was close was because of the INT. That'll stop, I think. The Rams only scored 7 on their own. Or maybe it was 10. They stopped Jackson so all-in-all a solid game.

We probably should have best SF last season but there defense looks better this season and even a old Moss scares me. It's going to be hard to win.
