its time for MM to make one of his late round draft pick trades for a guy that produces huge for us. This year i think theres 2 spots we could see targeted that werent really addressed in the draft. RB and S. With SF now having 5 backs on their roster my guy would be Anthony Dixon. A 6th rd pick in 2010 he can be had for cheap and would provide a punch while Leshoure is out.

I wouldn't mind a S, any out there?

I think he'll wait until cuts are made and save the picks/draft picks. They already said the draft is only a small portion of the offseason plans.

Atogwe' gimpy ass is still out there fwiw.

Guys will get cut from other teams once summer rolls around and we might be able to find somebody to push out Wendling/Coleman. Still a lot of time for roster changes to be made.

Does it all rely on Avril because of his tag? We still have no money, right?

No way anyone in the league would trade anything for Dixon. They have Gore, Hunter, Jacobs, James. Cartwright is great on special teams. Unless you actually believe Harbaugh's bullshit about keeping 6 RBs, there's no way Dixon isn't cut.

Besides, he blows.

yep...dominated the SEC for years....hes awful.

i liked dixon coming out of college, but he doesn't fit this system anymore. He's too slow and his power really hasn't showed up in San Fran yet. Kendall Hunter should be the guy we go after if we do at all.

no there is no every down back. But he wasnt even getting chances when there was no else to take snaps. If he gets cut and we bring him in thats cool. But I dont want to send a draft pick for him. Even a 7th.

According to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco, Brandon Jacobs was signed in large part because the 49ers "don't have confidence in" Anthony Dixon and view Kendall Hunter as a "change-of-pace" back.
We had already dumped Dixon, owner of a per-carry average of 3.3 in two years, even in deep Dynasty leagues. The 49ers will ditch him next. While we remain high on Hunter's ability, his Dynasty value is capped by the coaching staff's view that he's a complementary back as a opposed to a lead runner.

You ever watch football? Ever?

obviously way more than you...hunter gets all the carries Gore doesnt and fits what they want to do on offense when Gore isnt in the game. Dixon doesnt. If Detroit it looking for a power back that can catch the ball out of the backfield theres nothing wrong with Anthony Dixon....hes just that.

MM traded a 4th for a back up OLB....never say never.

Fit? WTF? When they played him, he got 3.3 YPC in an offense that can actually run block. Power back who can catch? SF would LOVE that. They WANTED a power back, thats why they went after Brandon Jacobs. If they already had one on their roster, they wouldn't have bothered.

Better question is, why the hell am I bothering with your dumbass?

all you do is bitch and tear apart everything everyone has to say....and provide no useful information yourself. Good you wouldnt like Dixon....who would help our gimpy ass RB corps more than anyone you mentioned....WHY??!!! cause you mentioned fucking no one! You bitch and bitch and bitch and give no insight to what you think would help. Brilliant. Take your 600 posts and gtfo.

How many 4th rounders become long-time starters on good teams? Look it up and let me know. The dude will play special teams and provide depth as a rookie. From there, who knows.

And what do you know about him? Have you met him? Have you scouted him in person? Have you analyzed every play he's made? Have you talked to his high school and college coaches to learn about his work ethic? At what point during Mayhew's three year rebuild of Detroit from 0-16 to playoffs did you realize he's an idiot and you're so much smarter and more knowledgeable about football than him?

YOU are saying that I bitch? classic

No random running back is gonna come in and save this run game. They have the RBs on the roster right now. That's why I don't provide names for RBs. I just point out the flaw in your dumb logic.

Heres a flaw in your dumb logic genious...guess whos stat line this is! O...its our starting running back for most of the year last year. Smith had WAYYYY more carries than Dixon and averaged 3.4 for the entire season the last full season he played. Its much much harder to come in and have a good average when you get a few carries per game....anyone who has ever played football knows that. So if 3.3 in spot duty is that terrible that youd cause all this drama on a message board than Kevin Smith must be fucking dog shit.

Mayhew didn't sign a single new RB in FA. He had 8 draft picks, not one was a RB. He's signed 20 UDFAs, and only one, some dude from PSU, was a RB.

http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2012/04/detroit_lions_sign_seven_more.html

If he felt like he wanted to upgrade the RB position, don't you think he would've done it by now? FA RBs went for very little (Michael Bush got about $3 mil/year). Plenty of RBs were available late. Could've had a guy like Polk for a 7th. Didn't want it. There are still guys like Hightower, Benson, Brown (who he tried to get last year) available. All better than Dixon. He hasn't sniffed them. What has he done so far to make you think he wants a new RB? Why is that so hard to understand?

And the point about Dixon's YPC average is that he has a good o-line, the other RBs manage better results, but he still can't produce. You can't compare a stat from someone on SF to someone playing behind Det's non-existing run-blocking.
