Now that the draft is over

There was a lot of marks on Polk. He carried the ball a lot at Washington, just like K. Smith. He's lazy and his health, dislocated left shoulder in '08 (had surgery), suffered a torn left labrum in 2009 (surgery), arthroscopic knee surgery shortly before the 2011 season with a possible hip injury. At least the things that I heard floating around.

I'm not arguing injury concerns, just saying that it's really easy to say what is a mistake or isn't a mistake after the fact. Personally I think we could have gotten Broyles later because he had a major injury, but that's all speculation at this point.

He was later, 1st round talent in the 2nd. Polk might have been 4th round talent but with injury concerns and laziness, he bounced out. Right call. 32 teams agreed.

I cant wait to see CJ, Nate, Young and Broyles with Pettigrew working the middle of the field. Try and cover all of them lol. Especially with Staff who can fit the ball into any small window he wants. This reminds me of when we had Barry with Moore, Perriman and Morton. Only now we have a better QB. Yes I know our defense needs help and some players will need to step up. But if they can we will win some games and make the playoffs.

I'm confused. I'm going to go take a nap.

Basically that it is too early to tell if passing on (or drafting) anyone is the right move. Especially running backs and the rise of the UDFA as quality players at that position.Arian Foster, LeGarrette Blount, Fred Jackson, and Benjarvus Green-Ellis come to mind. I'm sure a lot of teams wish they had used a 4th on that bunch. Not saying that Polk or any other undrafted player will live up to those quality backs but it is too soon to put a definitive "right move" on things yet. It just basically lets people continue to argue for their favorite guys, especially the fallers long after the draft is over.

Kiper's #1 UDFA

1. Washington RB Chris Polk
A lack of explosiveness and durability concerns are likely the reasons Polk went undrafted. However, he displays good vision and balance, and is versatile enough in the passing game to potentially bring big returns as a free agent.

Our UDFA pick up Stephfon Green got kicked of the team for disciplinary problems and battled injuries his whole career...BUT ran a 4.24 40 at Penn State pro day last year.

I'm a Penn Stater. Green is a blazer for sure and has return ability. Logan better watch his back with Green and Broyles now. Green gets tackled pretty easily. In between tackles probably not but screens and return game, Green could be an asset.

I'm can't remember what Logan did in the Punt return game but as a KR, he just didn't acclimate to the new rules well. I think with the few attempts and kicks going 7-8 yards in the end zone just kind of messed with his mojo. He just seemed off kilter.

Logan did terrible at punt returns this year. Too many unneeded fair catches and his average dropped a good bit. Broyles once healthy will take over PR duties IMO. If they find some other starter or backup that can KR, Logan is gone and it frees up a roster spot (maybe a 5th tackle with Backus,Reiff,Fox,Hilliard and Gosder)

I don't particularly like WR, one you expect to be the slot guy soon, to return punts. Too many injury possibilities.

I agree. But I think they might try and get rid of Logan this year. He cant help you anywhere else and his PR and KR were pretty bad last year.

I would be shocked if Logan is on the team for game 1. He didnt seem very aggressive last year and dropped or fumbled to many punts.

Yeah Logan got lucky he only lost one return last year. That return lost was crucial though on the kick return against Atlanta. Atlanta got a td on a short field and guess what we lost by a td. Sucks too because it was after a re-kick with Atlanta offside. The year before he lost the punt return against Minnesota in the Dome. That one was costly in a close game too. Since Logan has no other value, it makes sense for Broyles and another KR. Logan is a free agent anyway. Only good thing about Logan is he is cheap.
