Official Day 3 Draft Thread

I would be pretty thrilled if we could still get Michael Bennet as well and solidify that position. Still need a WR too though.

Yes, I mean for tampering, because it's already been stated, Mayhew did NOT need to file any paperwork.

Filing paperwork forces the NFL to investigate. The NFL launched it's own investigation. Mayhew didn't need to do anything, it was already underway.

You guys seem to think the filing of a complaint is equal to accepting an extra pick. It's not. What the NFL will do, they will do without Mayhew. If they decide the Dolphins tampered, and by all accounts they did, they will take action regardless.

Again, the paperwork only starts the investigation by filing a complaint, it doesn't do anything more than that.

This should be a god damned sticky at the top. So tired of people crying about that.

Depends on his play.

Yep, if he gets $4MM this season, he'd be a 4th rounder I think. But his contract could pay him more than $7MM this season, which would elevate him to a 3rd potentially.

Whose crying? I said there are no 2nd round comps. If you believe we are getting anything for Suh other than a 3rd round comp, then you probably believe the NFL knew nothing of the Ray Rice tape. That should be a sticky at the top...we are getting nothing for the Dolphins wooing Suh like Nick Nolte in Blue Chips. nothing.

Any of you Spartys pissed about langford to da bears?

A sticky about people blaming it on a complaint not being filed being the reason we get nothing for tampering. If we get nothing, it's because the NFL thought we deserved nothing.

Gabe wright. Auburn dt. Beautiful. Complete team, worth third round pick with the comp picks coming.

Great job mayhew. Holeless

The complaint not being filed just makes it easier to let them off the hook IMO.

Thanks for clearing that up.

The NFL didn't start their own investigation because the believed nothing happened. The question is whether or not they can prove it.

Goodell went after Miami on this one. He wants to hit them hard. He may not be able to when it's over, but he didn't start the process because the Lions filed, he did it because he was pissed.

He's bent as far as anyone could with the legal tampering period, and teams still did him dirty. He would love to bend Miami over the coach and take it to them from behind just to send that message.

No, it doesn't. A complaint to the NFL is like a criminal complaint.

If the victim of a crime files a complaint, it starts an investigation. When the cops find a dead body in the alley, they don't need anyone to file a complaint, they start an investigation.

If Mayhew had filed a complaint, it triggers an investigation, not a punishment. The NFL was already investigation. It would actually be stupid and completely disrespectful to other teams and the league for Mayhew to file redundant paperwork.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Don't take the numbers as factual, because I really don't know where the breakpoint is for these picks. It fluctuates every year based on salary cap numbers, who got signed for what, and shit like that.

I think, if I remember right, there are 32 comp picks available every year, so they get prioritized, and it's based a lot on how much a guy signed for vs. the other guys who signed for more or less.

There really is no hard and fast rule of "you signed a guy for this much so his old team gets this pick"... it's dolled out based on the priority of every signing.
