OT: Braun tested positive for banned substances

KalineCountry[/color]]Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears from a source that Braun tested positive for a prohibited substance, not a performance-enhancing drug. Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was told the same thing, with his source saying there's "never" been a result like this since MLB's drug testing program began.

But my source -- and again, this is from Braun's end and not MLB -- familiar with the test's findings says the "prohibited substance" was not a performance-enhancing drug or steroid of any kind. And the source says there has "never" been a result like this in the history of the MLB testing program.
The source said MLB "knows that Ryan is telling the truth" and that source firmly believes the postive test will be overturned.

So what is going to cause a positive test then?

Find out soon enough.
I was talking with a couple of friends today about this, and remembered something about players getting supplements from GNC that had a substance in one of them that was not allowed by mlb.
But also, whatever braun took showed up to be a synthetic form of testosterone...

yeah Tom, it would be naive or homerific to think a couple of recent Tigers did not use something.
My thoughts at times the past couple of seasons were maybe Maggs/Carlos used the ped that increased the healing time from injury like what andy pettitte used.

The founder of Balco recently said players can take them the night after a game and they'll be able to pass MLBs drug test the next afternoon.
