OT : James Harrison

Aren't the browns about to get in trouble for letting colt go back in?

And 95% of the league can hit a qb without going helmet to helmet. But harrison just "accidently" does it all the time. Guess that guy is just unlucky.

Harrison is pure trash.

James Harrison is a fucking idiot...he's going to break his neck "tackling" like that. That's not a good hit at all. It's just dumb. I want to see a guy go in with his shoulder and lay someone out, not headbutt him in the face.

And he'll get fined for sure. That penalty had nothing to do with it being on a quarterback. He would've gotten the personal foul if it was any other player.

James Harrison is the man. How the hell (or why would he want to) change his stripes 3 years removed from being Defensive Player of the Year playing exactly the same way? Don't give me this bullshit about player safety, it is a decidedly unsafe game.

The reason why most Americans love football so much is that it mimics warfare and is incredibly violent. That doesn't bode well for the addition of the London Silly Nannies and the Mexican Muchachoes in 2020 and in competing with the strides Basketball has made oversees recently. Goddell has begun the pussification of the game to make it palatable for the masses.

In the end McCoy was out of the pocket and could advance the ball as a runner, therefore the hit, even helmet to helmet is LEGAL. See: Gocong smashing Mendenhall helmet to helmet in the same game.

The hit was not legal. Even though he was running with the ball he was in the motion of throwing the ball...therefore it is described in the rules as a defensless player...therefore the hit was ILLEGAL

Jerome Harrison, while he is a great defensive player and I don't want to take that away from him, is doing what every team's fans wants him to do: hurt somebody.

Would ANYONE here have said, "Oh damnit!! Aaron Rodgers is hurt! That sure sucks for us!"?

I don't like how Suh is considered a "dirtier" player than him (even though I forget how many concussions and weeks lost Harrison has accounted for compared to Suh (0?).

I don't think anybody thinks Suh is dirtier than Harrison. I think most people think Harrison is the dirtiest player in the league.

Well, after the stomp incident, the media has been hounding his every move. Bet your ass if Suh did that to someone he wouldn't see the field till next year.

Harrison is by far the dirtiest player in the league. And he's not just hurting people, he's going to hurt himself. And when he does? Zero sympathy from me.

Actually, the stomping incident by itself is dirtier than the Harrison hit IMO. Harrison is dirtier because he has a much longer history of cheap shots.

Oh I'm in total agreement he's dirtier. But at this point Suh could sneeze and draw a flag. Can't believe Harrison hasn't been suspended for ANY of his hits.

*edit*

Dirty, yes... but IMO not nearly as bad as going out there taking people out of the game, possibly the rest of the season.

It's debatable Tom, here is Peter King SI's take:

On Harrison:
I've watched the replay maybe 10 times now. Colt McCoy leaves the pocket, runs to his left, tucks the ball under his right arm, and a step or step-and-a-half before making contact with Harrison, pulls the ball out and quickly flips it to Montario Hardesty. Harrison hits McCoy helmet-to-helmet right in McCoy's facemask, and McCoy falls to the turf. Harrison gets flagged for roughing the passer.
Here's where the debate comes in, and why I believe it will be hard for the NFL to suspend Harrison: If McCoy was viewed as a runner -- which he surely would be while having the ball tucked under his arm, with no intention of throwing it -- then once he is out of the pocket, he is treated like a running back, not a quarterback. And a runner can be hit helmet-to-helmet without penalty.
But if a quarterback leaves the pocket with the intention still to pass, he loses some protection from the rules of being in the pocket. He can be hit low, and the one-step rule about hitting a quarterback after the release of the ball goes away.
After the game, Harrison told reporters: "From what I understand, once the quarterback leaves the pocket, he's considered a runner.''
Not exactly. If he leaves the pocket and looks to be intending to throw, he can't be hit helmet-to-helmet. If he leaves the pocket and appears to be a runner, he can be hit helmet-to-helmet.
It'll be a close call for discipline czars Ray Anderson and Merton Hanks to decide next week. And Harrison should have aimed lower anyway. But I don't know how they look at the replay and say McCoy isn't a runner when he has the ball tucked under his right arm. And is running.

maybe suh thought that Guard was a runner....and runners can get kicked and bashed in the head. He should go see Goodell and ask.

my theory is...if the QB leaves the pocket he should be considered a runner and those rules that RBs have to survive with should be in effect.

the hit was pretty bad and deserves the fine that comes with it..but they have to stop treating QBs like fucking Princesses.

I dont know whats worse...the really cheap calls on the qb or PI calls. Theyve both ruined the enjoyment of watching an nfl game.

seriosuly anyone that breathes on Brady gets 15 yards...its fucking pathetic.

I agree a QB should NOT get any special treatment at all if he leaves the pocket and becomes a runner.

That hit was late all day and just flat out illegal at best. He's a repeat offender and he needs to be suspended for a game or 2 (I can't believe I'm saying that). The sad part is...this is probably what we have to look forward to with Suh. Once you are that list, you'll never be given the benfefit of the doubt.

What a murderous hit...lol. He looked like he killed him.

As for the hit though. That's football!! Nothing Harrison can really do in that situation. He's taught to murder the QB...end of story. But yes, his phone will be ringing in the morning....which is sad.

Dude he hit him helmet-to-facemask. That's not football at all. 7th graders learn how to tackle better than that.

C'mon, buddy. That's footbal 101. You lead with the helmet. I come from the old school way of thinking where you try to hit him in the mouth. That's Harrison 100%. Nowadays, it's penalties, fines, your children get beat, your wife leaves you etc etc. It is what it is...lol. To me? That's football....whatever. Why you have a facemask on then if you don't want guys getting hit?

Harrison is going to break his neck? He's built like a fn silverback. He'll be just fine.

Gotta disagree with you there. There is A LOT he could have done about that. I have ZERO problem with him crushing McCoy...that's his job. But you don't need to lead with your head to another players facemask. I played football long enough to know that in a situation like that, you almost have to TRY to keep your head that high. Normal football instincts would have you lowering your head to hit around chest level, not crown of the helmet to the facemask.

That hit was intentional.

McCoy wasn't trying to run, wasn't juking, wasn't pump faking. Harrison had a long time to size him up and delivered a stupid hit.

His phone should ring.

Won't let me respond to you, booger. I need to tell you how wrong you are...lol. ;)
