OT : Marlins make Albert 10 year offer.

St Louis is a baseball town. I think I'd stay there if the numbers are anywhere close. Why would anyone go to Florida.

Btw, now that I think of it -- freakin' Ozzie Guillen is their coach now. I hope the Marlins fail miserably.

with Puhols, they would get another 4-6 good years, but it's his marketing value that they're thinking about. they need the fans to start coming to the ballpark and for years to come, and with Puhols and Reyes adding to their lineup they could see some quick results. wouldn't surprise me for a minute if he left St. Louis, he already has a grudge towards then from the way they handled his contract. now add that to La Russa leaving, and it might just make him go with the fish.Just like giving the little boy/girl at a Tigers game a foul ball, you'll have a Tiger fan for life.

Were they big sellers when they won two WS? I wonder how many seats they sold then. Its just Florida and not just baseball that can sell seats. In their hot months, July and August, I'm not sure I'd want to sit in the stands of a ball game. I want to be in a pool or at least air condition.

Pretty sure the new stadium is a retractable dome for this very reason. When the weather is awesome the roof is open. When it is hot or rainy, you close it. I heard they spent something like $600mil on the place and it's supposed to be really nice.

Have you ever been to St. Louis? It's one of my least favorite cities in the country. Miami is probably a really nice area for a guy with 200 million dollars, evidenced by all the athletes that live there in the off season.

Obviously St. Louis is a historical baseball town, but that's pretty much it's only advantage over Miami beach.

Wow, only a 37,000 seat capacity. Good look making money with that when you've got a payroll that's likely to be one of the highest in baseball if/when these deals are finalized. We averaged 32,617 a game last year which was 10th percentage wise at 79.1% capacity and 13th overall in attendance. Even if they had a sell out (100% capacity) every night they'd only be 10th in total attendance. That might happen for the first year or two, but it isn't sustainable. They'll likely end up somewhere around 65%-75% capacity over the next decade if they are lucky. You're talking average attendences in the 25K-28K range. That's not a recipe for sustained success if your payroll is locked in at $100mil plus for the next decade.

I think the bread and butter seats are the premium and the executive boxes. The last 10-20K seats in any ballpark are not netting much money. Even with the high attendance at Comerica, you can still get a seat for very, very little most nights.

I think Miami has done a good job selling the high priced stuff already.

Yes I saw a game there. Actually was able to get onto the turf. For tourists, vacations it blows. Nothing to do there. But I was referring to a baseball town. Play there and get a house in Miami. Not like there's time to go on a beach during the season.

angels have apparently offered $210 million, but the cards appear to still be the preliminary front-runners.

Personally, pick a team Albert. Now he's just looking like a greedy jackass. 200, 210. 220 -- what's the fkn difference.

The difference appears to be up to 20 million dollars. Who doesn't want to make 10% more if they can?

Because I hear all the time with athletes, "its not about the money". We all know it is but 200m or 300m -- freakin' rich as hell. Different than 50k to 60k which would be huge.

Please don't make that comparison.

It makes more sense for an AL team to sign him since he will be a DH for the final 3-5 years of the contract. I heard 10 for 250. Good luck in years 5-10!
