I say 3

announcing Friday

Josh King (#1 player in IL, #69 in the country)
Brandon Randle (3 star, #42 LB, unknown when MD offered)

Sunday

Austin Robertson (#2 in Indiana, #111 overall)

Monday

Naquan Jones (#5 IL, 4 star)
Jauan Yulee (4 star, #153 overall)

Yulee is unlikely, never visited MSU but still lists us as a finalist. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kareem or Corley make their decision soon as well, spots are filling up. If we get 3 of those guys I say we're going to finish top 10 in the country after everyone fills up, if we add King, Jones, and Robertson and then Kareem and Corley we might end up top 5 in the country.

Over under is 4, it would be very surprising if it was less than 4.

Personally, if this is as planned as it sounds, there is bound to be a surprise commitment on Saturday, so I might just take the over.

And Khalid Kareem is still likely to be part of this class, we're taking 5 D linemen: King, Jones, Robertson, Kareem, and either Panasiuk or another DT. That would be a better D line class than when we brought in McDowell, Smith Jr, Evans, Sweat, and Beedle.

And Naquan Jones is a beast, he's continued to get bigger without losing a step. Weighed in at 327 lbs at his last camp at 6-4.

Spartans are putting together a seriously good class. Sentiment on Eleven Warriors is that Corley is headed to East Lansing. Good for you guys, good for the B1G.

Thanks. Would be great to end up with a top 10 class, I think we get there with Robertson, King, Jones, Randle, Corely, Hill, Panasiuk, and a couple other 4 stars. Ohio State will have a top 3 class, If MSU can end up 8th or 9th, that would be good for the conference.

MSU has the benefit of finally taking a good sized class, should be 23-25 players. That means the lowest ranked 3-5 get dropped from our score since the services only rank the top 20 players in the class.

obviously winning football games and winning in recruiting aren't the same things, one helps the other but not always, teams like Michigan and Tennessee have recruited well and lost a lot of football games. It would be great to see our recruiting results catch up to our on field results.

Absolutely, recruiting is important, but winning games is the goal. And recruiting stars mean a lot less than getting the right kids in for our system and for our program.

We need to compete and have success like this in recruiting on a consistent basis or 11-2, 10-3 will essentially be our ceiling. Of course, 2 or 3 losses is nothing to scoff at particularly compared to what we endured since 1987 but there isn't a team MD has put on the field that could beat last year's OSU team more than 2, maybe 3 times in 10 tries.

And I would add that I would rather the program stay clean and have that be our ceiling than have the coaches sell out and tarnish the program for more wins.

11-2 is our ceiling? I could have sworn we went 13-1 the year before last, and if not for 3 dozen pass interference calls in the ND game we would have been playing an overrated FSU team for it all.

And the 2013 MSU and OSU teams were both better than last year's OSU team.

get ready for some name calling, actually, first, backtracking, then name calling

Can't agree with that. 2013 and 2014 Buckeye squads were probably similar on the offensive side of the ball but defensively, it's not even close. In 2013 they were the Silver BB's. In 2014, the Bullets came back.

That was 2013 - it's in the past. The rest of this post is ridiculous. FSU was overrated in 2014, not in 2013 - they beat everyone by double digits (most be 3 TDs or more) except Auburn, the SEC Champs, who the Noles beat for the national championship. And that OSU team was nowhere near as good as last year's team. OSU is leaps and bounds better now. Think about it, last year OSU handily beat 2 of the best teams in the country on their way to a national championship and they manhandled us in our own stadium. And they did it with their 3rd string QB. In 2013 they lost their bowl game to 8th ranked Clemson for crap's sake. Saying the team we beat was better than the one that just handily won a national championship and rolled us when our roster was basically the same is just dumb. It's complete nonsense - just like your claim that FSU was overrated in 2013. Nonsense - it's as if you don't fact check anything or care about facts. You just say whatever you think will substantiate your outrageous misstatements.

If we go back to having 2nd tier recruiting classes, there may be years here and there where a few things go our way and we have a 1 loss season again - maybe. If you want to say that means this team has no ceiling without consistently better recruiting, fine but that's just dumb. It's like saying FSU was overrated in 2013 or the 2013 OSU team was better than the 2014 team or Johnyy Adams of the Winnepeg Blue Bombers is an elite cover corner, or fou Fonoti is an elite tackle, or Thad Matta wishes he could recruit like Tom Izzo. It just doesn't stand up to any amount of scrutiny.

The fact is we have to close the talent gap and consistently land top 20 or even top 15 classes if Meyer keeps doing what's he's doing - especially if Harbaugh also turns michigan around which whether you like it or not is pretty likely to happen.

I just read a quote by Cam Chambers that he knows of a few guys that are coming and are just waiting to announce. From reading Rivals and what their reporters say it sounds like these are a done deal, at least a few of them. hopefully King gets the ball rolling toady

I'm not as confident about King anymore. He's played his recruitment close to the vest and he might be picking someone else.

Didn't read, but you could have just paraphrased this whole post by admitting you're an idiot.

You wish you hadn't read it so you could have remained blissfully ignorant of how dumb you are. You know you can't refute any of it or back up any of your ridiculous claims with any facts. You had probably suppressed the memory all those statements you refused to walk back preferring just to ignore them and pretend you never made them - that's your m.o. isn't it? Make an outrageous statement, get proved wrong, then ignore it or try to dismiss it offhand by pretending you didn't read it or sometimes tuck tail and disappear for awhile...

Blah blah...you're a douche bag..blah blah blah.

awesome - can't back up anything you say or admit you're wrong so resort to namecalling. Sbee's really gonna let you have it for that - at least you didn't back track on any of the countless things you got wrong - he might have unfriend you if you did that. Dumbass.

You're the fucking idiot who says 11-2 is our ceiling when we finished a season 13-1 like 17 months ago. Go continue sucking on a bag of dicks.

Actually, I said:

that's a prediction - it's not disqualified by what happened in the past. And by "essentially" you should have inferred that I acknowledge it's possible that we could break through the ceiling on occasion but the point is that if the current talent differential were to persist between us and elite, powerhouse teams like OSU, Oregon, etc, we can expect to lose those games 70%+ of the time. You do realize that 2013 is in the past and that the past is not guaranteed to repeat itself, right? Particularly considering that circumstances have changed - OSU was still rebuilding in 2013 but it now appears to be an established powerhouse and michigan is likely to improve dramatically and quickly (that's also a prediction - I know you think it's a foregone conclusion that michigan will never rebuild and be competitive again but that's just partisan nonsense).

Maybe if you weren't so hell bent on disagreeing w/ everything I say and being an asshole to anyone who doesn't only heap praise on the program you wouldn't make such an ass of yourself all the time. What I said was not only not wrong, it's wasn't even pessimistic or a criticism of the program.
