Paterno will retire at end of season

Honestly, this is probably good for PSU - JoePa was really holding them down and they might actually be great with a decent coach (assuming they hire one). I'm not sure if the NCAA comes down on them with anything, that could hurt them, but I don't think there's ever been a case like this to compare how the NCAA might act.

Right.

So - shooting a deer = bad.
Molesting children = good.

I think I got it.

If they let him finish the season it is clear that PSU has it's priorities all wrong.

What are we talking about? 5 people involved in the cover up? The institution is governed by few, but it is defined by many. If the masses of Penn State people not involved with the cover up react appropriately, I don't think it's fair to hold it against them. I don't know what organizations you are a part of, but I wouldn't hold you accountable for the missteps of the leaders of those organizations, just your reaction. If the institution cleans house, the damage to the reputation of the institution is more than enough punishment for the remaining, completely innocent people.

Who is innocent here? How many of the higher ups allowed this monster to stay on their campus with his own office? How many decided it was ok for him to have continued access to Penn State facilities all the way up to last weekend? Anyone involved in those decisions is not innocent in my eyes. They made a terrible mistake that led to more terrible actions.

As far as we know, all but the 5 are innocent. (6, I forgot the janitor.) Who else knew of the assaults? It's likely that more people were aware, and they should also be sent packing. But the vast, VAST majority of Penn St. people had absolutely no way of knowing about any of this. What are they guilty of? What are the 44,000 students guilty of, or the half million alumni?

Exactly. I'm not sure what all this talk about banning PSU from the B1G and vilifying the University is about. There is a select group of scumbags responsible for this, not the University.

Yep.

The doddering old fool has no clue what is going on if he thinks staying out the season is anywhere close to a good idea. I think he was drunk on all the support the idiot students gave him who rallied around his house and the stadium last night. "WE STILL LOVE YOU JOE PA, EVEN IF YOU DID HELP OUT CREEPY UNCLE JERRY!!"

Art McNamara was saying at on the radio on Monday - that the B10 should sever ties w/PSU

Imagine this, you are watching TV on Saturday and Penn State scores on a late TD to beat Nebraska. The crowd goes nuts and the team hoists Joe Pa onto their shoulders to carry him off the field for the very last time as the crowd is screaming and ticker tape is raining for the stadium. What a glorious site to behold...

Now imagine you are watching all of this and you were one of Jerry Sandusky's rape victims. How would that make you feel?

Exactly. The guy should not be coaching vs. Nebraska.

OR...

What if Nebraska beats Penn State 59-0, and after the game everyone BOOS Joe Pa, and all the fans tear up their "Linebacker U" signs, spit on the ground, and wail in pain and despair, openly disavowing any allegiance to their alma mater and football program?

It could go both ways.

I'm guessing the Big Ten Network won't be running any of those commercials featuring the coaches, where JoePa goes "COME TA PENN STATE!!!!"

that would probably affect people a little worse than the outcome of the game itself.

Actually, I think the big Ten stopped airing those when RichRod got canned and ohio state imploded over the summer.

On Phoenix radio, "local" Mark May suggested Matt Millen be AD and that PSU go get Urban Meyer to be HC.

something tells me Millen wouldn't work well with Meyer.

I like my other idea better, that PennSt hires RR to fill in.

I'll admit, I had a good chuckle at it. Couldn't be more scandalous than the current guys even if he tried. Do it PSU!

Mark May is a ****ing moron. That is all.

Sure. He also went to Pitt and had decent familiarity with Sandusky and PSU. He was asked about the "football consequences" and said it would take strong and new leadership at PSU

In 1999 Sandusky was given emeritus status from Penn State University. That entails more than just a few scumbags granting him that status.

Emeritus Status Process: The school dean or chair of an unaffiliated department (or other senior faculty member if the chair is
retiring) should write a letter to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs recommending that emeritus status be granted. A recent curriculum vita must be attached to the request. The Provost will
present the request and vita with his or her recommendation to the Committee on Academic Affairs of the Board of Trustees for approval.

Going through that equals more than 4 or just 5 scumbags. A lot of higher ups at PSU allowed this monster to stay on campus and continue his heinous actions towards children even after they knew of what he had done to other victims. I know I'm on the extreme side of things here, but I feel like extreme actions are required. Does Penn State football really deserve to reap the monetary rewards of being in the Big 10 after they tried to cover for this guy? After they allowed him to continue assaulting kids on campus by giving him emeritus status? **** no they don't. They deserve a major punishment.

The Big 10 needs to disassociate themselves from this trash.
