Pete Rose should never be a HoFer

I agree that he should not be allowed to be "in baseball" but he should be in the HOF...IMO

Baseball Hall of Fame is a private interest and has rules and standards for selection. Rose does not qualify based on those standards as long as he is banned from baseball. That would be the first hurdle. The next hurdle would be whether veteran's committee would even cast enough votes for him.

Clearly, his performance on the field was noteworthy. However, if you use the standards the Hall of Fame has, he should never be enshrined just on the integrity issue alone, assuming they actually apply the standards. THat is the same standard that is keeping the PED users from garner enough votes.

I understand all of that....I just feel that he should be in the HOF based on what he did on the field. Just my opinion.

So you want all known PED users to be in as well?

the way I look at it...there are already PED users in or there will be...they weren't caught. Anyone with the numbers should be in...if they get caught for PED's it should be noted in the HOF. Just like guys that got caught gambling, using drugs, or any other issue. These things are all a part of baseball.

OK...so a similar take. If he hadn't already been elected, should O.J. Simpson be in the Hall of Fame?

Baseball is a bigger than any single player

I don't care if he bet on every game he played in...I still think he should be in the HOF

Baseball is a business. It is an entertainment business, in fact, and it sells the pleasure of watching fair and high level athletic competition.

Cheating of any kind threatens that business. Threatens it for everyone in baseball one way or another as announcers, sports casters, coaches, managers, front office staff, and players.

Gambling on baseball threatens the integrity of the game. What if every player was gambling on games, what if some of them were subconsciously or consciously playing differently based on their bets?

That would be the end of baseball as we know it. If I were an owner in the league or the commissioner there is NO WAY I would let that piece of shit compromise the business venture that I am responsible for.

Look, perhaps Pete Rose's case could be reconsidered, but he LIED, over and fucking over about it. He denied what was known as true, he didn't actually "confess" until very recently.

That is the thing. Even after he was caught he denied it publicly even after he'd admitted it in private. Then, it turns out, that he'd never come completely clean.

FUCK THAT GUY!!!!!!

He serves as warning to others.

No matter what you do, don't bet on baseball.

Maybe after he is dead he can be enshrined in Cooperstown, but not while he is alive.
