Preseason Game 2: Lions @ Texans Thread

Are you mentally challenged ? The reason our offense sucks right now is because its the freaking pre season and no starters are even playing . No Stafford , no KJ , no Hock , no Golladay , no Jones , no Amendola . need i go on or do you get it yet ? It's not just plugging in Stafford to what has been playing so far in pre season , it's plugging in every other name i mentioned and more .

Everyone agrees Stafford had a shit year last year , so noone is defending him on that . You're just a weirdo who has SDS ( Stafford Derangement Syndrome ) ...get over it already it's nauseating to say the least

mhughes0021 has history on his side. Stafford has been in the league for 10 years and hasn't done shit. He's Andy Dalton with a hot wife.

It's not about history , he's bitching about why the offense sucks RIGHT NOW .

Stafford had a 100 qb ratings until all his weapons got injured or traded. How is that for history. Great in 2016 and 2017 too.

Who cares. Zero playoff wins. He better deliver this year.

like I said. Stafford = Andy Dalton

Career Stats
Stafford - Dalton

TD% 4.4 - 4.8
INT% 2.4 - 2.7
YPA 7.1 - 7.2
QB rating 88.4 - 88.8

If Stafford doesn't get this team into the playoffs this year at the minimum, it's time to start the exit plan. Go ahead and find the next franchise QB.

Pride Of Detroit Lions Podcast: Lions-Texans preseason Game 2 reactions, studs and duds. 71 minutes.
The PODcast crew breaks down a more tolerable Lions preseason game.

The Detroit Lions? preseason Game 2 started out ominously. After looking extremely outmatched in the preseason opener, the Lions picked up where they left off in the first quarter against the Houston Texans on Saturday night.

But then it all turned around quite quickly. The defense scored the first Lions touchdown of the preseason, David Fales magically turned into a very competent quarterback, and some playmakers on defense emerged.

What does it all mean, though? How concerned should fans be that it took until after the Texans starters were out for the Lions to finally get things going? Or with so many Lions starters sidelined right now, does nothing matter at all? And what the heck is going on with Matthew Stafford?

We answer all those questions, give our winners/losers from Saturday night, and much, much more on this week?s episode of the PODcast.

This week on the PODcast:
The Lions played better, but Jeremy, Chris and special guest Kent Lee Platte explain what to make of Detroit?s first-team performance against the Texans.

Are the Lions playing with fire by continuing to rest Matthew Stafford in the preseason? We debate.

Who impressed in preseason Game 2? Who struggled?

Jeremy rages about the overall philosophy of the team.

What the hell got into David Fales and how do we make sure it never goes away?

Mailbag tackles Browns vs. Lions, talks about who will and won?t receive an extension in the next couple weeks and remembers JoJo Wicker.

Detroit Lions Podcast Episode 220 ? Lions Picking Up Steam. 56b minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case break down the latest Detroit Lions news. We recap the game against the Houston Texans, cover the pickup/drop of a few wide receivers (and one who is still a possibility), discuss Martha Ford and her upcoming TV appearance, and go in on Brian Baldinger and his cringy ?drunk uncle? rant.

Detroit Lions Podcast Game Review.
We kick things off by discussing the second game of the Detroit Lions preseason, this one against the Houston Texans. David Fales, Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Miles Killebrew and Will Harris all earned high marks. We also go into who didn?t show as well and cover one player that is making an interesting case for himself.

Then we hit the waiver wire and discuss who the Lions have picked up, put down and are thinking about. It?s interesting to see who they are looking at in an attempt to bolster their depth at wide receiver. There?s definitely work to be done at the position, expect more to come.

Your Fantasy, A Reality.
Don?t forget, our Detroit Lions Podcast Fantasy Football season has opened up! We have made big changes this year as a result of your feedback ? no IDP leagues, it?s all team defense, no more cross-league competition it?s you against 11 others for that first place cash, we?ve even got a few Pick ?Em leagues! /u/A5hcrack did the math and realized we?ve quadrupled the number of prizes. Check it out and sign up at http://fantasy.DetroitLionsPodcast.com

Next the Detroit Lions Podcast takes a look at Martha Ford?s upcoming special, ?A Lifetime of Sundays?. The special profiles four iconic female NFL owners, including Martha Ford. Mrs. Ford was contacted ahead of the premiere and shared some of her hopes for the team. Definitely worth a watch on August 25th at 1:00 ET on ESPN. It airs again on September 1st at 3:30 ET on ABC.

Breaking Down Baldinger?s Rant.
Finally, the Detroit Lions Podcast discusses an odd rant from Brian Baldinger. Case termed it best as a ?drunk uncle? type rant. Not something we would typically expect from Baldy, but definitely something Lions fans weren?t happy with. We discuss where it might have come from.

As adamant a Stafford defender as I am.....I agree with this.

9-7 playoff loss is okay? Is this what we've become, where average is fine?

I dont see it being an easy exit strategy either. I dont think were bad enough to get a quality high pick rookie back up in here over the next couple years. Youll need some money to resign some of these cry babies like Slay. Do you keep paying Stafford 20+ mil if our team is just stuck being middle of the road?

I see it is having Stafford is a luxury. You can try to draft his replacement well still having a quarterback in place that, if you build a team good enough around him, you can still win.

I still have a sliver of hope that Stafford can take a big step this year. Some guys take late career jumps. Young. Warner. Elway. Maybe #9 can be one of those guys. But even my patience is wearing thin.
