Preseason Game 3: Patriots @ Lions Thread

Doesn't that concern you, boog? That our WR don't get separation? We need someone to get separation besides CJ.

Hell yes it does. Please don't take what I'm saying as not being concerned. We are one injury to CJ away from being a below average offense.

If I were Mayhew I would look for a trade for a legit #2. Even if it means spending a high pick next year. Counting on Burleson as a #2 is borderline stupid.

From what I've seen this preseason, Willis is better than Burleson.

I want them to trade for Denarius Moore. He's rumoured to be on the block and they need a TE give em Scheffler.

give them pettigrew.....i still dont see how hes helping in the run game. the 7th rd pick out of bama can do what he does,.

kinda like fauria. keep 3 tes. fauria and 7th rd bama for run downs. sheff and fauria on passing downs.

If Moore is available.....I'd be ALL OVER that. He is a guy that could immediately help, isn't expensive and is young (24).

I agree we are going to see a ton of zone this year which mean I expect Pettigrew and Scheffler to have big years if all goes well, and possibly Fauria. You're going to see CJ covered with safety over which he has proven he can beat. Bush underneath is going to pull either the other safety or LB down in the flat which opens up Broyles and Burleson for short cross and slants. CJ can also ruin the zones by running deep outs or running the deep slant across the middle. That would pull a S off of the TE or running back. With two guys like CJ and Bush you will have a ton of eyes on them. Once they are all on the field and the chemistry develops they cant help but be explosive even if by accident. Also no way that Broyles and the TE's dont have decent years. Someone will have to be open on every play so if Staff takes whats there and doesnt force it we will get some yards and points.

That's troubling too. Eventually those Bush plays won't happen, defense will be always over him. You need more than one guy open or else its 2012 all over again.

Thats why when CJ is on the field, players will be open or at least have better matchups.

I loved what i saw outta Fauria. He made the #2s and #3s look stupid. Would love to see him with the #1s

And why are people concerned over CJ missing time? He's missed a total of 4 games in 6 fn years....lol. My God, panic sinks in too easy around here...lol

I did too but I am not for trading Pettigrew for Moore. Pettigrew has a bad rap around here because of a bad year when most of the team had a bad year. I think he is till one of the top dual threat TE's in the NFL recently having a 70+ catch season and being acknowledged as an elite TE blocking threat no matter what some people on this board think. I would however not mind trading Scheff and a 6th for Moore although that may not do it. Ideally I would like to see Grew, Chef and Fauria on the field at the same time with Bush in the backfield and CJ wide. I just dont see anyone stopping a formation like that with mulitiple blockers for screens or layered routes from short to deep, it would also open up wheel routes for Bush and 9 routes for CJ because no corner can cover any of those TE's one on one and most LBs would struggle with Chef's speed and Fauria's height. So many options I wish I could be their O coordinator lol.

They wouldnt want me as their ocord....on day 1 I'd scrap the shotgun draw and 6 yd pettigrew curl and then no one on the team would know what to do.

Not concerned about it, just that if he misses plays - he can't play them all will the Lions be in trouble? The one thing we agree on, we have no one who is a solid number 2. After CJ its trouble.

I honestly feel Broyles will develop into that #2 guy, but he's only got a handful of games under his belt, and he's starting to give me that "Jahvid II" feel with the injuries.

If he stays healthy enough to give us 14 games this year, I think we will see him start to become that unreal target that draws coverage off Calvin and starts to really spread the defense.

I see him as a perfect slot if he's healthy. I don't see him becomming a downfield threat like a true 2 should. My heart hurts everytime I think how perfect torrey smith would be in this offense.

I think Broyles can be good too but he's injured too much. Nonetheless, he's a slot not a two..
