Raburn optioned to Toledo

I never predicted Raburn ho hit this poorly as long as he did, especially after his MONSTER spring training.

But I always felt that at least we had a power threat at the plate when he played, just didn't pan out. He needed to go, and probably needed to go a couple weeks ago.

But Worth and Santiago are deflating at the plate, as least Raburn might have gone blind squirrel and hit one out, everyone but Rod Allen knows Ramon has 0 power, and Worth is, well...Worthless except for his defense...which has been shit since he came up.

Maybe Andy Dirks can play second like Raburn did...

Isn't it sad, man?

I put up some hitting stats on here and the Tigers are DEAD LAST in hitting from the 2B position. Fn pathetic...they need to make a trade.

Raburn needed to go, but lets be real for a moment.

Shipping him to Toledo did not make us any better. Worth and Santiago are not producing either, and probably are not even playing as good defensively (cue bob in 3-2-1...).

Hopefully he can get things turned around, but as excited as people are, this is in no way any kind of a fix unless he comes back hitting .290 with monster power.

The Tigers are playing bad with or without Raburn, pretty soon the people who kept claiming he cost us X many games are going to realize how dumb they were.

Dude, .150. Certainly didn't make us worse.

They had to send him down....maybe he can figure something out. The only problem is the person replacing him is just as bad.

it's all in disarray, just the other day Leyland was saying something about their always being a move every other day and that someone is always coming and going. Team can't get into a grove with guys getting rotated in and out all the time? I don't know but something just isn't right with this team. Maybe it's us?

Maybe we all bitch so much adding even more pressure for them to win and the pressure to win is just so great they can't handle it? I mean I think the offense is too tight, hitting on pins and needles not relaxed, where else does something like that come from other than pressure to win and preform well. What they need to do just say fuck it and relax it's just a stupid game? Who cares if we win or lose. Maybe we shouldn't, you know the whole if you want something bad enough, let it go.

You know what really bothers me about you... You pick and choose all the post's where i say another bad about any Tiger and twist them to suit your needs. Have you every said anything when I back them up with facts other then to brush them off with
"oh Ryan will heat up in the second half'. I proved that last years second half was mostly done verses LHP and 6 of has last 7 home runs were all in fact verses LHP... I have posted numerous times that I hoped he would break out of it but you never mention those threads.. Even in the Raburn thread yesterday or the day before I did not mention that he should be sent down but maybe a platoon was in order to see if he could get going. I said many times maybe he should be sent down to see if he can get his swing back like in 2010.
You know MT I am not the only one on here blasting RR yet you choose to single me out.. I have said plenty of things about Raburn but if you think a .145 hitter should be playing then that is your opinion but not the consensus of the board. We all wanted him to hit like in spring training but he never seems to be able to do it.. We all know that Santiago/ Worth are not the answer. But as of right now neither was RR.. Heck i agree with you he was fielding better then Santiago and worth this year but when you all bring up his second half sample sizes where he hits why is it wrong for all of us to be skeptical that his fielding will continue... What is wrong in say that.. Did you see the angle he took on a fly ball in Minnesota... You can tell his head is not into the game and he just had a death in the family.. He needs a break and the Tigers did the right thing before losing him with his last option.. Maybe he can helps us later in the year he did get his swing back in 2010 after a stint in Toledo .... We just disagree about RR... Nothing we can do about that..

I'm not singling you out because you bash Raburn's bat Bob, because everyone should be. And I have not once.....not once, defended Raburns hitting. I only pointed out when people said stupid (yes stupid) things like OMG DFA Raburn...because he has a history of being a top 3 hitter on this team during the stretch, or that we should replace one bad secondbaseman with another bad secondbaseman.

You posted and posted his batting line, and NOBODY ever argued with you about it, and it was not just me...several posters got tired of trying to explain things to you. Not once has anyone ever defended what Raburn was hitting, not one time, only what he was capable of.

But I put that in there because you bash him even when he plays decent defense, that's what I meant by that.

In a sense you're almost hoping he will be bad at fielding so you will be right. Raburn has been anything but the "black hole" at second base you keep calling him.

Know who's a "black hole"? Fatty Fielder. But he's popular so people let it slide. I don't, I call a spade a spade, and call out people, even posters I respect a lot like you, when I feel it's deserved.

Bash Raburn's hitting, but you're out of line when you bash his fielding, he's been pretty good.

I don't know what's good or bad but his range seems less than average. On B-R, 3.39 was Raburn's RF per game. That seems low.

His fielding is only good this year and second base and we all have said he has improved but last year he had 12 errors in what 50 games at second base. I still think his defense at second base is suspect but I will give it to you has has improved this year. Fielder has been terrible in the field at first.. I don't remember if i ever defended him in the field but he has to improve or he will be a DH in a few years or sooner... I would be happy if the Tigers could find a range guy at second base... Maybe RR will get his stroke back in Toledo. He did in 2010 hopefully he can clear his head and get it corrected..

Raburn 2nd half of 2012

vs L = .367 BAVG .415 OBP .600 SLG 1.015 OPS

vs R = .319 BAVG .373 OBP .551 SLG .924 OPS

Certainly Raburn hits lefties. But, he did well against righthanders also. He started out after the break 0-6, but batted .349 after that against RHP.

Bullshit.

He's still expected to make routine plays, and if you're going to spout nonsense like that then don't ever complain about Boesch or Young either, because they are on the team for their bats and not their gloves too.

Quit babying Prince, fact is he is not living up to the money he is costing, not at the plate, and certainly not at 1B.

LOL!!!

Don't even compare Boesch or Young to Fielder. You look silly, bro. Fielder is on another planet when it comes to those two liabilities.

And how the fuck am i babying Prince? Nobody on Earth is worth that type of money but that's the way it is, ok? You think DD and MI were sitting in a room and looked at each other, were worried about the defense at 1B and the first guy that came up was the stellar defensive play of Prince fn Fielder? Give your head a shake, man. He was brought here to rake...END. OF. STORY.

If that wasn't the case, you'd still see Miggy at 1st. Give me a break.

He here because of his ability to hit.

Same as Boesch, same as Young.

Nobody pays these guys for their defense, but they are still expected to play it.

You're clueless if you think just because Prince may hit a longball once in a while it makes him immune to criticism about his defense.

He`s not???? How so??

Good average but he was brought in for power. There are 39 players with more HRs and 29 with a higher OPS. He is being paid to be one of the best power hitters in MLB and he isn't performing like that yet.

So if you can hit, and you hit well but not as well as you should be hitting, and play horrible defense at the easiest position defensively on the field, you are immune from all criticism?

Got it. Guy is on pace for 3 WAR, Tigers are paying him to be worth almost double that, he is more than entitled to his fair share of criticism.

Sure, i get all that but to compare the 3 is insane and you know it.

I know they`re expected to play a little bit of defense. I`m not stupid, but we all know this team was pathetic defensively coming into the season. Nobody should be surprised about how bad we are.

Last - The defense on this team was supposed to be trumped by the all great and powerful offense anyways. Remember? Nobody would be saying a word if this team was scoring 8 runs a fn game.

35+ HR`s a year average is not hitting a longball every "once in a while" either. Just to let ya know.....

He's averaged 35+ HR's for his career. The power will come....relax.

Buddy, criticize all the hell you want to. If he averages 4 errors a game it's not going to make a difference. He's not going anywhere. He was brought here to hit and sit at 1B and hopefully make a nice play every now and then. What don't you understand? I just thnk it's futile to criticize his 1B play because nobody really gives a fuck. Well, "some" people do i guess...lol
