Raburn optioned to Toledo

Prince hit better in May and even better his last 7 days. You need to keep it in context, he's hitting like Prince now.

Actually he's hitting well above his regular averages in the past 7 days so I guess that means we can expect a downturn. Way to bring us down Mitch...

When people are worrying about Prince then something is wrong. Seriously wrong.

Raburn 2nd half of 2012

vs L = .367 BAVG .415 OBP .600 SLG 1.015 OPS

vs R = .319 BAVG .373 OBP .551 SLG .924 OPS

Certainly Raburn hits lefties. But, he did well against righthanders also. He started out after the break 0-6, but batted .349 after that against RHP.

In only 45 games and only 31 started games.. 6 homers and only 18 rbi's and he hit 6 of his last 7 homers off of LHP... Please for the love of god don't act like he carried the team with this stupendous second half.. He still k'd 28 times and only walked 9 times.. For a good month he hardly saw RHP in the second half and only 31 games started out of what 70 to 81 in the second half is something.. he ended up .256... You can't wait year after to year for a player to heat up... He always has at least a few down months every year wherever they are at.. he is nothing more then a platoon player... I know he is a good seconf half player... But how long are the Tigers suppose to wait?
His numbers have dropped every year the last four... Oh well maybe he gets going in Toledo.

2009..........291/.359/.533/.891..
2010..........280/.340 /.474/.814.
2011..........256 /.297/.432 /.729.
2012..........146 /.209 /.211 /.420

I think the point Rebbiv is making is that the idea Raburn only hits lefties is untrue.

2011 he faced mostly lefties, but there is no data suggesting he would not hit righties, or that he should only hit against lefties.

His overall numbers dropped, and I agree....he's not much value as a half season player, but his second half numbers were a big part of helping us during our big hot streak, nobody said he carried this team, but don;t be a fool and downplay it either. It was big.

Bob....you keep saying "facts" and I keep dispelling them. Hardly saw RHP? In his 141 Plate Appearances after the break, 76 came against RHP and they were spread out. Maybe you are just saying he only started against LHP. Which may have been true, but he still saw ABs against RHP and still did pretty well.

I am not discounting Raburn needed to be sent down. I am also no discounting that he is a 2nd half hitter. But I am also not the one to point to the holes in the roof, while ignoring the broken out windows, broken down furnace, etc, etc. Raburn is part of the problem, not the whole.

I really don't mind making arguments on why Raburn needed to be gone. But if they contain stats, I generally verify what is presented.

Hopefully he stays down there forever and is off the roster completely by July...

As much as I dislike Raburn, I can't agree with this. It's in the team's best interest if Raburn's bat picks up...they simply don't have many, if any, good hitting options at several positions and Raburn could fill one of them for a good stretch of this season, if he gets hot.

If anything this year should show is that as far as position prospects go, we suck.

Buddy, criticize all the hell you want to. If he averages 4 errors a game it's not going to make a difference. He's not going anywhere. He was brought here to hit and sit at 1B and hopefully make a nice play every now and then. What don't you understand? I just thnk it's futile to criticize his 1B play because nobody really gives a fuck. Well, "some" people do i guess...lol

Criticize his 1b play because at this rate he's about a season away from being a full time DH already. Then his value decreases even more and the Tigers get even less value from his contract for the next 8 years. The guy is a good hitter, but being as bad as he is at 1b he needs to be one of the 5-10 best hitters in baseball to justify his deal.

You can never justify that deal. Be happy with the 30+ HR's and the 100+ RBI's we'll get every year.

Plenty of cheers in Toledo as Ryan Raburn comes to the plate at Fifth Third Field.
Raburn making his first at bat for the Hens since 2010.
And Raburn hits into a 6-4-3 double play.

hope he comes around and starts to hit this month.

Ryan Raburn is hitting .273 in 3 games for Toledo with 2 BB's and 2 K's, no XBH since being sent down. per P.wez

Ryan Raburn removed from MudHens game. No official word why yet; looked to have his foot stepped on while covering 1st on a bunt.
