SI ranks all 32 starting QB's. Stafford ranked.......

Stafford should have everything he needs this year. Barring major injuries. Year 2 in the system.

Run game should be at least average, he should have 3 healthy good weapons plus RB weapons, he should have top 10 protection with our upgrades and RT/RG health

5,000 yards 35 TDs and 12 ints and 65% on the table this year.

I hope you are right about this guy for once. I would love that.

If he gets most of that, he will produce.

He has produced with less. Yards, first downs and TDS. 2014 he got the wins and did make many good plays that helped us win.

32 more completions gets him to 65%.

5 less drops, 10 more plays with protection, 7 more 3rd and 4s and not 3rd and 8s, 5 more times a weapon gets better separation and 5 better throws by Stafford.

And we won 7 with average defense in 2013 (due to allowing big plays from an injured secondary/rookie Slay). But also had 34 turnovers (19 picks, 15 fumbles). The turnover issue seemed to be fixed in 2014 (8 fumbles 12 picks). Caldwell was brought in to fix that. And he did so far.

Average defense (which I think Detroit will be top 5 and not average but that's another story) and only 20 turnovers could win alot of games too. Maybe not miss 13 FGs either.

And if he doesn't produce, you can be damned sure the excuse train will be firing on all cylinders.

oh yea...that was the year that the division was basically handed to them on a silver platter and Stafford shit the bed! My favorite was the NYG game!

Neither pick was on Stafford that much. Great play by Tuck and had to throw to outside of Fauria with LB on inside. Safety was lucky to get that off Fauria's hands. Pressured on 13 throws but went 8/13. Bush fumbled. Calvin was extremely limited in that game (48 of 85 snaps). Sack killed first drive. 3 point first half was not Stafford's fault.

Stafford did his job. Defense gave up 23 misisng Houston, Slay and Mathis and Quin hobbled by ankle injury.

Good running day though.

Stafford destroyed Giants Week 1 with healthy weapons and proper defense.

Lions got revenge on Bucs, Giants, at Vikings in 2014. And beat Miami instead of losing on miracle FG against Baltimore.

Depends what happens. I've only seen it happen once and he had 41 TDs and 5,000 yards.

QBs need protection and weapons. Run game doesn't hurt. Defense is always important for wins.

Barring injury, Stafford should have that. We'll see if run game and protection actually show on the field though with the upgrades made.

He's 27, he is what he is. QB just don't suddenly get better at 27. He might have a decent year again but this is it for him. He's Scott Mitchell.

They get better in year 2 of an offense instead of the first year. They play better with more protection. They play better with healthy weapons. They play better with 3-4 weapons instead of 1-2. They play better with run support. They play better when the defense gives them upper 20s+ turnovers.

Stafford is not Mitchell. Stafford is far superior to Mitchell in every way.

Big year coming for Stafford. Could he have 1-2 better throws a game sure. But Stafford does so much good for Detroit it outweights the minor bad.

Well you said big year in 2012, 2013 and 2014 so one day you could be correct. Doubt it..but you never know. I'm expecting 3rd place, Matt will improve from 29th best QB to 27th..and he'll get a raise.

Big year 2011 happened. Big year 2013 did happen actually. Good TDs, yards, first downs and 3rd down %. Many turnover were not his fault.

2012 and 2014 lots of injuries. Injuries in 2013 too but he did well. 2014 he did outstanding but the stats don't show it. Proteciton, run game, new offense, injuries all a problem. Still 11 wins.

All my predictions are predicated on normal health. We had a ton of weapon and Oline and RB injuires over the last 3 seasons.

The problem is no one has normal health. Even normal football health. Whether it be Chicago, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Denver or Toledo.

Many teams get normal health. Most get normal or better health. Normal is average. Packers for instance had Bulaga out only 1.5 game. Lacy, Nelson, Cobb, Rodgers, Quarless, Adams all healthy. This is extremely great health. Pack had injuries in 2012 but had the WR depth. Their 4 and 5s could be number 1s or 2s. 2013 they had injuries and only won 8 games. When healthy they went 6-2 with Rodgers.

Lions did not have that. And in 2013 had no WR depth with Calvin out 2, hurt 2, Burleson out 7, Broyles out 8, Pettigrew out 2, Bush out 1.5 games. 2012 Burleson 9, Young 6, Broyles 5, Pettigrew 4, Calvin with busted knee and fingers, Best 16, LeShoure 2

2011 Lions top 3 weapons and all 5 Oline stayed health. Best out 10 games. 10 wins, 29 PPG offense, 41 TDs, 5,000 yards. Playoffs.

You're full of shit. Not newsworthy of course but nonetheless you're full of shit. Can't wait until you graduate from high school and you go somewhere else..

Also back to Flacco
He has 10 ints in playoffs. Someone lied and said 4. It's not 24 and 4 ints

flacco 25 TDs and 10 ints in playoffs. 11-0 in 2012. 14-10 in the other 5 years combind.

Flacco had one nice run, playing mostly bad defenses with great protection and good run support in 2 games and good defensive support in 2 games. Plus the lucky Rahim Moore play.

Flacco first two years in postseason. 1 TD and 6 ints. Stafford first two postseasons. 4 Tds and 3 ints. All 3 ints weren't his fault.

I'm not full of shit. Everything I said was true about the Packers and Lions. it just hurts your argument so you are trying to deflect.

Normal=average. Lions had concentraed Oline injuries, Calvin injury, Bush injury. New year in offense. Ebron was a rookie. We had two weapons for him and Calvin missed 5 games truly. No protection

Stafford did outstanding. Mayhew is right.
