Slay

Banks, to me, is a Jimmy Smith clone, except a step slower

down to 30th ranked pass defense after last weeks raping from rapelisburger. Dline sucked, mathis sucked, carey sucked, Delmas sucked, Houston sucked, quin sucked. Lots more blame to go around then slay.

No gimmes, the Lions always allow games to be close

I agree. Not many times I remember the Lions at halftime or even come 4th quarter when I can say "alright we got this." Even against teams I believe we should beat easily.

Of course we don't get smoked much either but it would be nice to start out big, close big and everywhere in between big.

I'm surprised more with Houston. I always saw him as a solid #2. But he seems to be outmatched this season..can't play man to man and gives up too much ground - guys are wide open.

This is Houstons worse season as a Lion by far. The last 2 TD drives had nothing to do with him. One TD did, the first one. I want 2010-2012 Houston back. Got the contract, now is wildly inconsistent. 2011 Willie Young returned, so maybe Houston can turn it around.

Carey and Gomes should be off the field with Bentley and Quin back at least.

Why does it seem like the Lions CBs play so far off the line?

Are they more focused on limiting YAC rather than breaking up passes/disrupting routes?

or am I just selectively seeing all this?

They bump and reroute some. Depends on the down and distance. 3rd and long and you'll play off the ball. Lions have been getting teams in 3rd and long a good bit lately.

Personally I just don't think they have the skill to stay with their man. It's not selective, I see it all the time.

It's all i see them playing. Wish we had some jammers, but at this point it wouldn't make much if a difference.

So, who was the better pick, Slay or Banks? I say it's still way too early to say. I do like the way TB is handling Banks though. Throw him in there and just let him play. Banks was getting beat up by Burleson early in the game, and CJ later in the game. Even though he was clearly having problems Tampa stuck with him, and he made a play to end the game. Wish the Lions would take this approach with Slay just to see what he's made of. If it breaks him, then he was clearly the wrong pick. At this point, I don't see it hurting a thing. Houston has become huge liability out there and Mathis isn't doing much better.

you simply cant play worse than mathis....slay should be starting over him and carey....but our coaches are a bunch of dumbasses.

Time to move on from Mathis and Houston imo, should be Green, Slay, and Bentley for the rest of the season. Let Houston and Mathis tutor these guys from the sideline.

green either isn't even on the team or is in some sort of dog house.....haven't seen him in like 6 weeks.

At least he knows he should've had it:

Good team win today still can't believe I miss that pick lol one go come tho

I like Slay, he gave up the one big catch today, but he was right there, not getting burnt like Houston probably wouldve
