Slay

Ok but that ONE bad thing (sacks) doesn't trump the big picture. Sacks, hits, hurries and 3rd down, completion % and points(within perspective of how many the offense causes too) and turnovers forced and how quickly opposing QBs must get rid of the ball is the big picture. But it all together the Lions have a good pass rush with improved run defense (especially the last 3 games). And 6-3 is the biggest picture of all with a division lead. Let's see how they finish.

PFF ranks the Lions as the 5th best pass rush in the league. 7th best in pass coverage. 6-3 they are doing something right.

You can live by the sack number and 27th in passing yards given up (with plenty of garbage time passing yards to Cle down 14, Vikings down 10 and Bears game 1 down 24 and 16)

Correct. I don't think anyone is suggesting all the good stuff including being 6-3 is not good. I know when I'm watching and our guys get close there are times when we give up some big yards I'm like "damn, almost". I seem to say that a lot though. A few more sacks might prevent some big plays. That's all I'm hoping..

With the pressure we get I would like to see the Dline get their hands up. We did better and caused some batted passes against chicago but it should happen more.

the fact a single indivual player has more sacks than our entire dline is sad.....hurries blah blah blah wins blah blah blah 3rd down blah blah blah.....its still a fact that when 1 player has more sacks than our entire dline its a bad thing lol.

Your blinders you wear are sweet. Did you get them at Walmart?

my blinders? lmao! you are seriously even going to attempt to try to argue that 1 player...1....were talking about 1 player....having more sacks than our ENTIRE FUCKING dline is even close to disgusting? its worse than disgusting....its embarrassing. We have 3 rd 1 draft picks starting on the dline.....and ONE player has more sacks that all of them. 1. 1 guy. Uno.

If my blinders are from walmart...youre wearing those blinders that arc welders use.

How many players? Im not sure if you said ONE? lmao...chill out, sunshine. You mad bro?!

Im just looking at the big picture, thats all. LKP pointed out that the DLine was ranked top ten OVERALL, unless I read it wrong idk... Capitals for OVERALL so you dont have a fn stroke again, ok? Wow.

You see, i can look at the big picture. Something you have trouble with at all times. Yeah, sacks are sexy. Sacks get you paid, sacks get you the chicks but if your DLine is ballin OVERALL, ill take that all day. Everytime i read quotes from either an opposing coach or QB we're about to face, they always mention our DLine and know how much of a nightmare they can be. PROFESSIONAL athletes are taking notice of our DLine. You dont.....thats why i made the blinders comment.

Carry on....

Not today. But still overall on the season :)

Bring on Tampa. Of course they are hot at 2-8 winning 2 in a row.

Not to absolve the D-line from their lack of production today, but it seemed like Big Ben played quite well today. Very aware in the pocket, moved around/up in the pocket, getting rid of the ball quickly, scrambling when needed, etc.

Am I just seeing things through homer glasses?

Yes the limited pressure we got, Big Ben did a great job avoiding it.

Fairley only one who showed up

Maybe if you have really good depth. The Lions don't have that luxury.

Also, slighty off topic at this point, but my friend down in Florida says the fan base is pretty impressed with Johnthan Banks and that he's a solid #2 behind Revis and could be a #1 when Revis is gone. Too early to tell but we might have picked the wrong Miss St CB, as many feared from the very start.

We will see what Banks is all about this weekend. Bet he gets torched no matter who he is covering. Like I said I would still take Slay over Banks. The only corner I wouldn't have minded if we passed on Slay is Amerson. Guy has great size/athleticism, just takes way to many risks.

My thoughts exactly, I'd rank them in that order. I thought Amerson had the highest ceiling but Slay is a burner with the chance to be great. I'd teach him to return punts if he isn't going to start, he's got 4.2 wheels.
