SOL or NIL?

Last victory at Lambeau was same year Lions last one a playoff game. Break that streak and there is no way to not lean toward NIL even if they should lose their playoff game. End that streak, free themselves from the mental block, build confidence, create new identity... and lay the foundation for a better future.

I'm a pretty positive poster here....Rodgers isn't human when playing at home. I think it would take a small act of god to end our GB losing streak this year. Anything's possible but I'd give us a 2% chance to win that game in GB. Stafford might have to play the best game of his career.

With that said I don't think losing to GB would signify the SOL.

Not losing to them wouldn't. But not winning a playoff game would..

To achieve NIL status, Lions still need to either win in Lambeau or win a playoff game, IMO. Giving them better odds to win a playoff game than winning at Lambeau backs up that position.

But to squash that SOL bullshit, they could do both... then everyone will be on board 100%, even if they lost the second playoff game.

Just wan't a playoff win, please. Can't believe I was in my 20's the last time.

The SOL vs NIL fans are easy to spot, aren't they?

SOL...Lions have lost 16 straight in temp below 40...haven't won @Lambeau since 1991...Lions will lose their last 2, and if they somehow squeak into playoffs they will lose.

NIL...what an awesome season! Stoked that Lions will be able to break the 40 degree and @Lambeau losing streaks, will be #2 seed, and will win at least 1 playoff game!!!!!

Seems like there is not much middle ground between these two camps, like Libs vs Cons and not enough Moderates to have a strong enough voice to create a third party. LOL

I'd put myself squarely in the middle.

Does the 40 degree streak concern me? Yep. Bears are really bad, but coming off a really embarrassing loss. Professional athletes don't like that. I can see them coming out with fight. Gotta bury them early. We come out flat and we will absolutely get behind 2 or 3 scores again.....just like we did AT HOME, IN WARM WEATHER!

However, this team is built on defense....which is extremely rare for a Lions team and speaks really well for their chances in any conditions, against any team. I think that's what's toughest for me to grasp......a defense oriented team with an offense that just hasn't produced the way it should. Hard to watch sometimes. Easy to criticize. But actually better prepared for the games they have coming up.

Hoping for the best, but a bit weary about the worst.

There are a few wildly optimistic, mostly realistic, and perhaps some deeply pessimistic Lions fans who post here and on other online Lions forums/message boards. Despite having seen nearly every miserable way that the Lions teams could possibly invent to yank defeat from the jaws of victory and lose games in the most gut-wrenching defeats imaginable since 1970, I still root for them. Seems like it was far easier to have become almost totally indifferent to the Pistons since their last NBA championship in '04, than to completely ignore the Lions even though the club went 0-16, 6 years ago & their last NFL championship came when I was just a few months old....haha!!

Any fan who bothers to post his (or her although I have yet to see or read any female Lions fan's posts online) opinions and feelings about the franchise/teams/players is more than just a "casual" Lions fan and most certainly not a "hater" Only wildly optimistic fans would label other members (the latter who are more grounded in reality, IMO) could post that.

.

But, if they get in even at 12-4 and lose their only playoff game..then it's a not so good

Mitch, if the Lions get in at 12-4, they're going to win at least one playoff game.

I am not going to post any thoughts that could be not confident from here on out.

Go Lions!!!
