Spring Training Games

Roberto Campos with a 2 run HR today vs the Blue Jays. Kind of surprising that they gave a spring training AB to the 18 year old this late in spring since he hasn't played with the major league club all spring.

Final 2022 spring training stats...

Eduardo Rodriguez: 3.71 ERA, 2 BB, 19 K, 17 IP, 4 GS.
Casey Mize: 2.89 ERA, 2 BB, 10 K, 9.1 IP, 3 GS.
Tarik Skubal: 1.32 ERA, 3 BB, 21 K, 13.2 IP, 4 GS.

Javier Baez hit in the arm by a 93.8 mph fastball from Kevin Gausman.
He walked to first base with Doug Teter and appeared willing to stay in, but the Tigers removed him from the game. (It's the sixth inning.)
Baez is replaced by 18-year-old shortstop Cristian Santana.
per Freep Tigers beat writer Evan Petzold Javier Baez is fine.

Santana is arguably the Tigers best position prospect beyond Riley/Tork. Should be fun to watch him develop in the next few years.

If you're looking for things to be worried about -- and it's usually best to save the anxiety for the regular season -- velo remains down for both Michael Fulmer and Jose Cisnero this spring.

Cisnero (96/97 last year) was 93 mph today; Fulmer (95/96 last year) was 91 mph today.

Hinch said he's not overly concerned at this point (a few series into the season might be a different story).

"Veteran players have a way of knowing themselves more than anybody. They're proven guys, so I'm not going to rely on a radar gun in Clearwater."

per Mlive Tigers beat writer Evan Woodbery

Out Of Options 2022.
MLBTR

Every spring at MLBTR, we publish a list of players who are out of minor league options and, thusly, cannot be sent to the minor leagues without first clearing outright waivers. Option status is particularly relevant as teams set their rosters prior to Opening Day, given that a lack of minor league options is often a key reason a certain player will make the roster over another who had a superior spring performance (or, as with yesterday?s Blue Jays/White Sox trade, can be a contributing factor in a trade).

The following is a list of all 40-man players throughout the league with fewer than five years of service time ? players with more than five years of service can refuse an optional assignment ? and no minor league options remaining. We?ve included players who have signed extensions or multi-year deals, even though they?re often less likely to be optioned.
