Spring Training

Nice outing by Boyd today. 5 IP, 0ER, 1BB and 7K

I noticed that the game was @ the Cards. The Tigers used a DH and the Cards had their pitcher hit. I never knew that is how they did it in spring training. I guess I never bothered to look.

Based solely on spring training the pen is once again the if gest concern as well as who fills that 5th spot.

All in all a productive spring imo however.

Norris exits start with lower back tightness.

Ausmus was hoping Norris would take a step forward Tuesday. Instead, the recurring back issues have created another question.

Fellow starter Anibal Sanchez began game action on Monday after nearly a month out with triceps inflammation and later a bronchial illness.

Reliever Alex Wilson has yet to pitch in game due to a lat strain behind his shoulder.

Victor Martinez has missed the past week with a left hamstring strain and appears limited to pinch-hitting duties at best for the season-opening series at Miami.

Cameron Maybin, meanwhile, won't be ready for Opening Day as he heals from a fractured left wrist.

Hey, I've heard of a couple spring training games this season ending in a tie...

Is this something new?

Because I don't remember ever hearing about this happening before this season...

It's happened before. They do it because teams have a strict rotation and how they want to use their pitchers. Some of the guys are scheduled to rest so they rather just play 9.

The key right now is that the Tigers are 2 players below the 40-man roster. That may bode well for Castillo and Kensing making the team. That does not say enough how poorly the bull pen still is. And it would be a complete joke if either made this team, but a divine comedy if both did.
