Stafford gone to rams

Explain how it is on hold a year. Once again you?re ignoring the fact the lions had no cap space for this year anyways and still have to extend Golladay.

Were going from the 2nd worst team in the league with Stafford. To the worst team in the league with goof. There...i explained how the rebuild has been put on hold for a year.

8th to 3rd best odds. Lions just needed run game and defense and they could have been 3rd..glad stafford finally got the long term run game and d he deserves with weapons and good scheme. Perfecr situation for him. Looking forward to him excelling. But in the end have to hope for rams losses to help lions 2022 and 2023

no shit Sherlock, if the Lions went from the #32 defense to the #1 defense, they probably would have been somewhere towards the top of the playoff odds.

You and I are usually in lock step, but we are definitely far apart on this one.

Adding 2 1st round picks the next two years accelerates this rebuild by a mile.

For the 10th straight year, we’ll have the 2nd best QB in the division!

Two 1sts and 3rd better than 2021 1st

Also can restructure goff for more 2021 space if they want space. May not be necssary for a long rebuild.

To be fair unless you had Tom Brady or Patrick mahomes the whole league could say that. Finding a better qb than Aaron Rodgers I don?t think I?d a realistic goal. Lol, not sayings it?s impossible but it would have to have a lot of luck involved.

A rebuild also means a fresh face leading your team to help entice fas. Instead...we have goff. We're not rebuilding shit.

An Oc that's never called a play
A DC that's never ran a defense
A 26 yr old re-tread qb making $25 mil
0 cap
3rd rd pick

Get used to rebuilding.

Goff does not take us out the running for a quarterback. Not sure what you don?t understand about that. We don?t have Many big money contracts on the books in two years. We can have an abundance of cap space and a lot of draft picks in the next few years

You don't rebuild with a $25 mil qb on your roster. We tried that the last 12 years with statford. It doesn't work. Zero cap space. And a 3rd rd pick lol. You're not rebuilding shit. He just put this rebuild on hold a year to help his former team. Why would anyone be happy with that?

So you want the Lions to sign big money free agents the next two off seasons?

You rebuild with the draft and after you get a core of good young players you look to add FAs. With Goff and Flowers coming off the rolls you have a ton of money to spend going into year 3 of the rebuild.

who knows, maybe the Lions front office believes in Goff and now they have no interest in drafting a QB.

Yup i agree 100% rebuild thru the draft. Having goff will 100% eliminate taking a qb at 7. So were not rebuilding thru the draft are we? That's why I'm pissed.

It doesn?t eliminate it at all. If we like a QB at 7 this year we will take him. Having Goff for 2 years though means maybe we don?t reach this season and can wait for 2022 or 2023 to find our franchise QB.

That's exactly what's happening.

If he plays to the exact level that he has averaged over his career, it is probably a decent plan. Statistically, he is Matt Stafford (but younger and cheaper going forward) and they picked up 2 first round picks and a 3rd

Matt
62.6 comp%
7.2 YPA
273 YPG
4.5 TD %
2.3 Int%
89.9 rating

Goff
63.4 comp%
7.4 YPA
263 YPG
4.4 TD%
2.3 INT%
91.5 rating

If this deal helps the rams greatly from a cap or financial view point then I don’t like it at all. What are those details.

Basically cost the lions more $ taking on Goff but with 1st in 2022 and 2023 they basically bought those picks. Overall can’t complain too much

GM helping out the former over the new team?
Collusion?

Saves the Rams $5 Million in cap space in both of the next two seasons. Not that big of a deal.

And cap space means nothing to the Lions right now as they?re not trying to sign big money free agents yet.

My only real complaint is just get tried in each new regime pretty much only working deals with their former team. Gets old. Lions won’t go full rebuild now with Goff and if that leads to avoiding the drafting of fields I’m happy
