Forgot about Foles. I would rather have him too.

Sarcastic. Your boy LKP is getting a bit ridiculous. To suggest that any other QB would have finished 7-9 with the Lions is asinine.
So what you are saying is Stafford took this team to a 7-9 record with those things happening and Peyton Manning would only have been 4-12?
Stafford shits lazerbeams.
2013- 2nd in fewest sacks allowed
2012- 9th in fewest sacks allowed
2011- 17th in sacks (worst season among this list)
2010- 6th in fewest sacks allowed
I don't buy for a second that he's been "taking a beating." I don't think Stafford has ever had a problem throwing the ball that much. In fact, I recall quotes of him saying he enjoys it and trusts that he won't break down.
As for the mechanics, footwork, whatever. He's had those same problems since he played at Georgia. Unless it's been coincidence that he's had the same horrible tutilege for close to a decade, I raise my eyebrow at that stuff too.
If he has an insanely consistent year throwing the ball with very few wtf throws, can you argue that coaching was not part of the problem? I'm not putting it all on coaching, just stating that the former coaching staff was inept at developing a qb that had mechanical flaws.
Throwing 16 ints doesn't classify as a consistent year in my book. Multiple games with no ints, and not averaging an int per game would though.
But you can't deny he had a very good year. When you throw that much he's going to throw INT. He's not Tom Brady. He's a Gun Slinger, like Brett Favre. Look at his INT totals.
Very few people give a shit about how many yards he gets..
It was a great year, a breakthrough year. The gunslinger game in and game out role will hopefully be toned down a bit with the new staff.
