Stonum is gone

Whats really sad is the kid could have gotten his degree if he kept his nose clean. He double screwed himself.

It sounds like he's still hoping to graduate.[/quote:90q4bsib]

I wonder if he has to pay for tuition for this last semester. If he took a full load of classes every year and didn't mess around he should be close..

Would love to have him back, I miss him returning those kicks, but just means someone else has the opportunity to step up.

wonder if they kept thw tuition paud with a condition of making the polite statement he did

credit to him for finishing this smester then he can go somewhere else for his fifth year as a grad student

Well this is an example to the rest of Michigan athletes, 6 strikes and you're OK, but that 7th strike, Hoke brings the hammer down on you. Just joking, Hoke didn't have a choice regardless of the depth chart for 2012.

I'm glad Hoke made this decision. It hurts us, yes, but to keep our integrity it's something he had to do.

Yeah in the big picture of the program you have to make this move. It's also a lesson for the other players than you are responsible for your actions.

guess all the spartans pre-emptively bashing Hoke over keeping Stonum need to step up and admit they were wrong, and he's a better man than Dantonio when it comes to player discipline.

Yeah and it only took how many infractions ? I bash on Dantonio all the time for his softness and I would have if Hoke would have kept Stonum, so you get no apology from me. Hoke did the right thing.

So you're going to rip Hoke when he wasn't even the coach at Michigan? Stonum's first transgression with Hoke as coach at MIchigan cost Stonum a year. His 2nd transgression cost him his career. What do you say now?

Yah, Hoke's first move when he took the job at Michigan should have been to kick STonum off the team...

I would say if you read this thread you would have noticed my answer to this. I guess team infractions dont cont once you get a new coach, even if they are criminal. Thats nice.

Of course, they count. THat's why he got suspended for an entire season for his first offense under Hoke. If prior transgressions didn't count, he might've got off with a game.

AT MSU he'd be back on the field as soon as he got out of jail...see CLR

This sucks. I understand driving on a suspended license is stupid, but is it really a kick him off the team offense. It's not like he got pulled for another ONVI. He was driving to visit his PO. That should be an acceptable reason to be driving. Like having work driving privileges.

In his situation he'll have some real legal ramifications - the judge simply says, 'take the bus' and driving w/o a license has no excuse - usually a vicious cycle. My friend's little brother lost his license and witthout it, would have lost his job. So he drove to/from work for about 6 months but got in some fender-bender in a snow storm and got popped for not having a license (or insurance b/c he wasn't licensed to drive) and ended up having to spend some days in jail for it.

I'm not putting this on Hoke, remember, I said Hoke did the right thing. What I'm saying is, How many times does this guy have to **** up before he is gone, in this case 6 or 7. I know most of this wasn't on Hoke's watch but enough of it was and he did the right thing here because if he would have reinstated him, he would look soft, IMO.

BTW, I'm not denying that things would have been done different at MSU. Dantonio has set a precedent of being charmin like and it reflects negatively on our program, which pisses me off. So yeah, I agree. I guess I'm just one of those guys that will give someone a break, but not 4, 5, 6 or 7. I think I was an RUO too long.

Yeah totally dude, I mean if within 3-1/2 years I get 2 Minor in possessions, 2 drunk drivings, 2 driving while license suspended/revoked, 2 probation violations, and my license is so revoked that the State of Michigan has encased it in cement and thrown it into the Detroit River I should totally be able able to drive to see my PO and then lie to that probation officer about how I got there, after which I get followed and pulled over. After all I can run fast in front of a lot of people and our depth chart is very very thin at my position. I mean my football team didn't seem to give a shit until just now so why should the law?
