This sucks. I understand driving on a suspended license is stupid, but is it really a kick him off the team offense. It's not like he got pulled for another ONVI. He was driving to visit his PO. That should be an acceptable reason to be driving. Like having work driving privileges.

Yeah totally dude, I mean if within 3-1/2 years I get 2 Minor in possessions, 2 drunk drivings, 2 driving while license suspended/revoked, 2 probation violations, and my license is so revoked that the State of Michigan has encased it in cement and thrown it into the Detroit River I should totally be able able to drive to see my PO and then lie to that probation officer about how I got there, after which I get followed and pulled over. After all I can run fast in front of a lot of people and our depth chart is very very thin at my position. I mean my football team didn't seem to give a shit until just now so why should the law?

you cheer for MSU every week...

hypocrite.

none of you should even be going anywhere near a thread about disciplinary issues at Michigan, except to say, "you guys are better people than us, and I wish our coach had the stones to handle his players this way."

Isn't this the Sparty anthem?

I actually just went to the MSU board (for the 1st time, I think) to look for that kind of post. Haven't found anything yet.

You calling me a liar ? Not lying dude, said it numerous times, pay attention a little more.

I just misread. I knew you said Dantonio was bad on this board. For some reason I thought you were implying that you did the same thing on Spartan boards. You weren't.

...and I wasn't calling you a liar, just saying that I was putting in the work and was actually interested. Not just being lazy and throwing around the "Link?" response.

Interesting disparity, isn't it Red? Many Spartan fans that I know will disparage Dantonio's ways when in public around fans from other schools. Rarely, do you see it discussed amongst themselves and I have a feeling that if you were a fly on the wall when they were alone together you'd just see them high-fiving each other and saying things like, "Who cares about that stuff? As long as Dantonio beats Michigan, he's the best coach ever!!"

If its not completely fake, it still comes off as insincere.

Keep believing that you have higher standards, I'll remind you of that every time a guy get's 7 chances before facing consequences, every time you bring a drug dealer to your campus, every time you let a burglar arrested for home invasion travel with the team to the Bowl game, every time you have a peeping Tom on the team, every time you have a player questioned for sexual assault and it's swept under the rug, every time a drunk player crashes into a telephone pole, every time a player gets arrested for carrying a gun etc etc

Stonum was in trouble over and over, and had several issues after Hoke became the coach. Hoke gave him more chances even after he was on like his 5th chance. Stonum was kept around, kept his scholarship, practiced with team and even traveled to the Sugar Bowl with them. His only consequence until the dismissal was taking a red-shirt year that ensured he would miss zero career games. If Hoke would have came to campus and looked at Stonum's situation and said this kid is gone, I would have said hey, that guy is setting a high standard, kudos. But, it's obvious Hoke looked at his depth chart for 2012 and decided Stonum needed a few more chances.

Ohio State is the bench mark for sleaziness, I can't imagine even Jim Tressel keeping a kid around after 2 MIPs, 2 DUIs, and 2 Probation violations, but Hoke did. Dantonio was wrong for letting Rucker play against Iowa, but it was Ruckers 2nd strike not 6th and he kind of got a raw deal from the authorities, but it was still bad for him to play, he did miss 3 games though. Winston was the worst for Dantonio, he handled that situation wrong and he's admitted that. Don't pretend Michigan has a higher standard, that's been proven false over and over again.

Right. Tell that to AJ Sturges.

This is exactly what I am curious about.

"I love Darryl and wish him nothing but the absolute best," Michigan coach Brady Hoke said in the release. "However, there is a responsibility and a higher standard you must be accountable to as a University of Michigan football student-athlete. That does not and will not change.

"It's unfortunate because I believe he has grown a great deal as a person since the beginning of the season. My hope is that maturing process continues."

i hope the kids figures it out - i wonder if he does not realize he may have an alcohol issue and attitude issue - he has talent but his mind is missing something IMO -

hope he can still do something and not let this set him down a bad path

"I appreciate everything the University of Michigan, Dave Brandon and Coach Hoke have done for me," said Stonum. "I look forward to continuing my football career down the road, but more importantly, right now I'm focused on graduating from Michigan this Spring. I understand only I am responsible for my actions. I'm sad about how all of this turned out, but I completely understand. I love this school and my team and will miss them all greatly. But I'll always be a Wolverine. I know I have grown and matured as a person over the last nine months, and I will continue to learn and grow every day. I want to thank everyone for all of their support, and I hope they will support me in the future."

I think Stonum gets it, and it will painfully set in next fall. Sad story really. I wish him the best and hope he gets himself on the right path. Finishing his degree is a step in the right direction.

More lies. First offense under Hoke, suspended for 13 games. 2nd offense under Hoke, dismissed from the team.

He played zero games at Michigan under Brady Hoke.

HE PLAYED ZERO GAMES AT MICHIGAN UNDER BRADY HOKE.

Yep. I don't see why they don't get it. I guess because they're used to seeing Dantonio in action. Suspending a player from practice is not a penalty. Its a reward. Suspending players from watching videos is not a penalty. Its a reward. These players don't want to do that stuff anyway. All they care about and all they want to do is play. Making them work hard at practice and not letting them play is a much worse punishment than suspending them from all team functions and then letting them play. That is the 'stupidest' penalty any coach can give a player and that is exactly what Dantonio does. He suspends them from all team activities and then lets them play. All these student athletes care about is PT, so that is where you hit them and that is exactly what Hoke did.

Johnny2x2x is still trying to grasp the notion that each school has different academic standards, though the base minimum set by the NCAA for athletes is the same.
