Stopping the Syrian refugees is ISIS strategy.

...or, I could go the other way I suppose, and if I can find one example of a Spartan terrorist, it's back to the internment camps for you.

You mean like Ted Kaczynksi? Would you like directions to the nearest internment camp to turn yourself in? Tell them I sent you.

Of be fair Tom Hayden had his cantankerous moments as a young man.

For the record I'm not advocating the internment of either Spartans or Wolverines.

Hey, I didn't sign up for that policy! I'm against shutting down our refugee process.

Will someone please vet me and show Spartanmack that I'm not the Unabomber?

MC might be Tom Hayden though...

I didn't either but like I said before, you missed that point and apparently the sarcasm in that post.

I miss sarcasm all the time. That I'll confess to. This whole literal interpretation kick you're on is BS, but if you were being sarcastic about tying up refugee processing in response to terrorism, I will absolutely admit to missing what you're saying.

edit:tying, not trying

If anyone wants to argue that we can't take in Syrian refugees because we are still swamped with Iraqi refugees and we own more of that mess, I'd be totally receptive to that argument.

This is a sticky wicket all around. The refugees increase the risk that bad hombres could get into the US and our Western allies.

Not rising to address the crisis leads to the risk of the terrorists using that as propaganda to increase the radicalization in the region; not to mention around the world.

Haven't had a chance to see it yet, but a friend of mine who used to be in the military sent me this link about the refugee situation in Germany.

www.breitbart.com/london/2015/11/11/watch-anti-migrant-video-going-viral-across-europe

If it's as damning as he claimed I'm surprised the right hasn't jumped all over this.

Just a minute or so into this...it is worth pointing out that our thousands of refugees is a drop in the bucket compared to the numbers that we're talking about here.

12 million people have left their homes.
4 million are in Turkey.

What's a refugee vs. a migrant and what are these people supposed to do? It's a sticky wicket.

pretty sure it's really not like that in Europe right now. although the refugee thing is a crisis.

I wonder what dramatic music and editing could do to that OSU 2002 video that came up the other day.

So it looks like the US takes in a number of refugees each year equal to about 0.01-0.025% of the total population each year. Estimates for Germany this year are around 1.9% of the population, 140-250 times what the US let's in on an annual, per capita basis. The numbers announced by the German government are about half that, so...70-125 times what the US is doing.

So I don't think we're remotely in the same place. It's entirely possibly we have a good vetting process while Germany isn't doing much to vet anyone at all.

That video is fear mongering.

And that whole bit about out-breeding native populations is wrong. They're not having 7-8 kids because they are Muslim. They're having 7-8 kids because they are from the 3rd world. 3rd world Christians also have 7-8 kids. 1st world Muslims have 1 or 2; same as anyone else.

That's the best argument I've heard for not accepting refugees from Syria. The sad thing is it's the very first time I've heard it.
