Gut Checks galore this week.

everyone gets a gut check.

Next round of gut checks on me, guys, and ladies.

Ever since you started this topic, I'm amazed how often the term is used. "Gut Check" was being used constantly to describe the stock market last week.

And boy did Gus, Joel and the folks at FOX jinx the Hawkeyes! The primary narrative was how Iowa "never turned the ball over" and MICHIGAN always did.

Wow ...1yd rushing!

I watched the game. It was ugly but still entertaining.

As far as holding them to one yard rushing...I hate how college football calculates rushing yards. They count the yards lost on sacks on the rushing totals. The Iowa QB had -65 yards rushing? Pretty stupid.

IMO they should do it like the NFL...Iowa had 66 rushing yards and a net of 195 yards passing. That's what really happened.

What if a QB gets tackled quickly for a loss before it can be determined whether he intended to run or pass?

Or what, if no on is open and the QB decides to tuck the ball and run but gets tackled for a loss?

Or what if the QB decides to tuck the ball and run in the same situation, but instead he gains positive yardage? Does he forfeit credit for those yards?

they would have to take away some of those sacks by UM's D

I agree but it's why the number against M were skewed by facing Army and Taylor. Any team statistically would look similar and now the skewed "1yd" for Iowa will even the numbers out.

I've always got my finger on the pulse...

I mean, I'm completely dialed in...

In the know... on top of it.

Hip. Cool. Jive talkin'

Feel me?

I hope you realize that even if they calculated it like that, holding them to 66 yards rushing was still a hell of a day. Brandstatter pointed it out during Inside Michigan football. I'm pretty sure everyone involved knows that the sack yards are why it is 1 yard rushing.

Thanks, though.

It would've been even worse except Iowa got called for several holds that if they had not held, there would've been a few more sacks.

Thank the Refs that they got called on those holds. Especially on that pass that was nearly a TD.

Well, one that one and the one just after that, the Iowa blocker tackled the Michigan player, so they were pretty blatant.

But are you down?

And are you fly?

I don?t think so.

If you were you would?ve made a point to mention that.

There was one on Iowa's final series they didn't call where Daniels (I think) got dragged down right in front of the back judge. No call.

even the announcer noticed and wondered how the hell they couldn't call that one

Guess they figure it's not fair if OLs can't hold our DL all game long.

Kinda like last season, when someone actually dug up the stats and the lack of holding calls we got was off the charts. like the best defense in the conference, with a bunch of guys playing on Sunday this year, was dead last in the # of holding calls... right.

The Big Ten is dirty. I've said it before... I would not be surprised to discover some shady connections to gamblers/organized crime in that office. Rosemont, IL (where they moved from Chicago) is a mob town. shadiest place in the whole metro area.

Asked Vic Jr how he liked the CU game and Folsom Field and he replied, "Lit!" so I guess he liked it.

Even though the Wildcats won? First place in the PAC 12 WEST! BEAR DOWN.

It was an exciting game - lots of big plays, little defense and scoring. We left at beginning of Q4 because he had a BDay party to attend but we heard on radio driving home. and fwiw, Folsom has to be one of the best venues in the country. facing the mountains, smaller and easier that the BigTen mega-venues and has character.

Pac-12 South, I believe...!

still don't get the Bear Down thing but there were AZ fans saying that and doing a bear claw thing with their hands.

It was a deathbed appeal from an AZ player in the 1920s to the coach ?Pop? McKale. ?Tell the boys to Bear Down.? Two years before the Gipper, which matters how, I don?t know.
