The Official MTSU vs ][V][ichigan Game Thread

I do hope that we don't see Dylan McCaffrey at WR anymore. It doesn't make sense to take Nico, Black, or DPJ, once healthy, off the field for McCaffrey to lineup at WR. Those 3 WRs are legit NFL talents. You can't tell me we're better off with a backup QB at WR just so we can run a semi-trick play that exposes McCaffrey to more hits.

Horrible 2 QB package

Your points

Also, discombobulated, couldn't get the play off

Very irritating

Sometimes they just try too hard

Yep. Overthinking it. Pick a QB and let them roll with the best skill players on the field.

Yep. I don't even want to see McCaffrey until garbage time. If Shea is the best QB, then get him in there and get him some reps. They need game reps, not stupid trick packages.

Exactly. Patterson is our best option. He'll get us into the right checks the most. McCaffrey is a talent and his time will come. We don't need to fuck up a season by needlessly dicking around between two QBs like we did with Brady and Henson.

Besides, I can't think of any good trick plays we've run since 2007. Seems to be a lost art in Ann Arbor.

I know it's very contrarian for me, but I'm not super worried. I think the offense has a lot of potential. The defense was fine. They just gave MTSU decent field position from stupid errors.

I fully expect a total domination of Army. If it's not, then I'll be worried.

It's pretty sad, but this still remains my favorite trick play:

Fun trip down trick play memory lane

Awww man, I watched the whole thing. Those were all so great! A little RAZZLE DAZZLE!

THAT'S how you run a trick play... show nothing unusual pre-snap, then all hell breaks loose and you got the defense is running all over the place confused before you throw a lazer to a guy all alone somewhere, or toss to him with 5 blockers in front and no one in position to take them on. Breaks everything wide open.

None of this conspicuously-put-in-both-QBs-before-telegraphing-a-short-throw-to-your-second-QB-in-traffic-to-try-to-get-him-killed-for-a-one-yard-gain crap! C'mon Harbaugh!

Rewatching the game on btn, I see that McCaffrey is a bit of a ball hog. Charbonnet was sitting on 90 yards on 8 carries. We could have seen the true freshman break 100 yards in his first ever game, but no, Dylan kept keeping it over and over and over. Then he finally gives it to him at the 1 where he promptly got stopped. Not cool!

I agree; I hope coaching can fix this. along with Shea fighting for more yards, when it's not needed. just manage the offense, and don't take unnecessary risks.

I?m pretty sure I posted it on our narcissistic countdown thread.

Yes! Trick plays should be a surprise. They shouldn't shout to the world, "Hey! Here comes a trick play!!!"

Next year, we'll need a countdown thread to the countdown thread. Because we are such narcissistic "douchbags" (sic) for wanting to post images of OTHER people in anticipation of Michigan football season.
