The truth behind the Lions switch to AM

All of the viewership is on FM now. I listen to AM for two seconds when my car starts and accidentally flips on that side.

I think its an absolute Joke that the Lions are moving away from 97.1 due to their desire to censor what was discussed. However, I do think Valenti gets carried away with his whole 'Lions suck' bit. He refuses to give credit when its due with the organization (Which, with this organization - its rarely ever 'due'). He had a major axe to grind with Suh, ever since he didnt answer Mikes (pretty stupid) questions to his liking a few years back on the radio. He comes off like he has a personal vendetta against the Lions, which is silly.

However, regardless of what Mike,or anyone else on the station said - the Lions look foolish right now..

Eh, I could be wrong, as I havent listened to the interview since it happened like 3 years ago, but I seem to remember thinking that Valenti tried to 'flex his muscles' by pushing Suh to answer non football related questions, over and over. Suh basically was non committal, and pretty politely side stepped those questions. I think most interviewers would have said 'ok I tried to get some answers, but he isnt playing ball' and just continued on to the normal everyday questions. However, Mike kept pushing him and when Suh hung up (due to the Valenti basically refusing to talk about anything else for 8 minutes), Valenti had what is essentially a hissy fit, live on air.

I was glad Valenti asked Suh those questions about the stomp and the car accident which took place during his two week suspension..but after Suh declines to answer those questions once, twice, three times, it just got ridiculous. Suh had an obligation to go on the show every week, to discuss football, not to try and get bullied into admitting hes a bad person, or whatever Valenti was trying to do. Valenti was in the wrong there - which is saying something, because Suh at that time was looking like an idiot.

It's warranted. Flat out. Lions since they have been with 97.1 have a record of 63-124 (33% win rate).

Mike isn't a negative person. He tells it like it is, PERIOD. If you can't handle the truth, then go find your mommy and be coddled some more.

If you want positive comments about your organization, win.

Some more stats, since I was born (30 years) the Lions have the 3rd worst winning percentage of all teams from the NBA, MLB, and NFL.

So they change the channel? Nonetheless, to Ink's point, the franchise had two choices. 1.) Stay with a network that might have more listeners but bashed them constantly (deserving or not) or 2.) Or go elsewhere where maybe the new network is more appeasing to the franchise.

Clippers and Grizzlies. Though Grizzlies haven't been around for the full 30 and their win rate is climbing thanks to the last 3 years.

Did you listen to any of this show today? Their hosts, Valenti, all of them, received calls from the PR department EVERY SINGLE DAY to tell them exactly what they wanted on the radio.
