Tigers 2023 Spring Training Thread

Spencer Torkelson keeps planting seeds. This line drive at 102.6 mph.

More hard contact for Spencer Torkelson. This one a 100 mph RBI double?with some help from the defense.

That?s 10 balls hit at 100 mph or more this spring for Torkelson, if you?re counting. Tied with Bo Bichette the most in the Grapefruit League.

Tigers brought an all-relievers cast today to Tropicana Field -- and should have brought relievers for the relievers. Six walks in the first three innings, four by Kervin Castro in two-thirds of an inning of gruesome labor, and the Rays have a tidy 9-1 lead.

Heck of an effort from Nick Maton at 3rd base.

Not sure if Tork is already been given a spot but regardless of his "hard hit balls" that amount to nothing i 'd have him in Toledo for 3 weeks to let him mash there if he can. He's clearly not ready for the show. And Baddoo I'd trade him for a thumbtack if I could.

Tork may not be ready but he has been decent so far this spring. .344 OBP isn't too bad. Plus, they really don't have any other options at 1B.

Another factor...I would rather have Tork with the club playing in the warmth of Tampa Bay and Houston vs the cold of Toledo OH and Ohaha Nebraska.

Ohaha, haha. Might as get used to the Midwest he plays there. OBP aside, he's not had the results a top pick should have.

Detroit Tigers option three prospects, including Parker Meadows, to Triple-A Toledo.
Freep

The Detroit Tigers optioned four players to Triple-A Toledo: Right-handed relievers Rony Garc?a and Brendan White, outfielder Parker Meadows and infielder Andre Lipcius.
Left-hander Zach Logue, expected to pitch in several roles for Toledo, has been reassigned to minor-league camp.
The five roster moves leave the Tigers with 49 players remaining in MLB spring training.
The Tigers need to cut 23 more players.
