Tigers 2024-2025 Offseason: Trades, Free Agents, Call ups, Rule 5, tender, non-tender, Awards

What does reported Astros' offer to Alex Bregman tell the Tigers in free agency?
MCBTB
It tells me that they have no shot. I heard he wants a 7 year deal somewhere near $200M. I don't think I would give him the 6 year $156M that Houston offered.

Chapman got 6 years 151m last year at 30 years old. Bregman is a better hitter, Chapman probably better defender. Seems like decent value for an elite 3B at 30 years old.

Per the transaction logs, it appears the Tigers have re-signed Ricky Vanasco to a minor-league deal. Vanasco was DFA’d last week.

SATURDAY SURVEY.
Totally Tigers

Last week, the Detroit Tigers tendered super-utility player Zach McKinstry. He’s 29 years old and played in 118 games last year.
As expected, his offensive was on the weaker side but he was, by a very wide margin, the team’s best base stealer with solid plate discipline and fewer strikeouts. Defensively, he is a plus defender and played 6 different positions – more than any other player. He also has a plus WAR.
The vast majority of his time was spent in the infield, esp. at 3B. With 5 years of experience, he could be very helpful to Jace Jung. After 3B, he’s also played 2B and SS the most.
What do you think of the move to retain McKinstry?

What do you think of the move to retain Zach McKinstry?

1. Solid move - super utility players are hard to find.

2. It's an OK move.

3. Not thrilled.
