DEEPER DISCUSSIONS.
Totally Tigers

The Detroit Tigers continue to build their roster to a higher competitive level. A number of rookies made their debuts last year and more are expected in 2025.
They have lost a number of their starting pitchers and it is hoped that younger ones will make the rotation at some point in 2025. Their bullpen remains strong.
The outfield has reached an elite level but the infield remains a mess. Only 2 players there are considered to be locks for the 2025 season and beyond.
Detroit’s payroll has gone down significantly over the past couple years due to the shedding of huge contracts and the influx of rookies who are making MLB minimum salaries.
The franchise certainly has the ability to spend money.
But how should they do it?
Should they spend the majority of available payroll on a top free agent who will command a significant salary or should they spread out the available funds among a number of positions?
Today’s blog addresses this question and allows readers to share their thoughts in more detail. And hopefully, to actively engage with others by responding to their posts and creating back-and-forth discussion threads. The more the merrier!
For this one blog only, you’ve got 6 sentences max to share your thoughts. Of course, you can also respond to other readers.
TT will supply the ammunition. One thought-provoking question. Several options provided. One hard choice to be selected. One vote.
Ready?

How should the Tigers use their available payroll?

1. Spend it on 1 really big free agent.

2. Spread the money to cover multiple positions.

GIVING THANKS – Part One.
Totally Tigers

We’re giving thanks this week. And if you think about it, Detroit Tiger fans have been hard-pressed to find things to be grateful about until this year.
But all of that is going to change starting today and running through tomorrow.
We’re going to look back over the past year and think about what we were grateful to see about the Tigers.
But there’s a hitch – as there always is here at Totally Tigers. You didn’t think we’d let you skate by and mail it in, did you?
Today, we’d like for you to consider this question:
What 1 episode, development, goal, vision, etc. were you most grateful to see during this 2024 season?
We’re asking that you not name people today. That exercise will happen tomorrow.

We’re looking for a singular event, a progression of some type, the checking off of boxes, reaching a goal, etc. It can be about the franchise overall, a department, offensive/pitching/defense achievement, etc.
Please identify the event/area and tell us in 3 sentences or less why you picked it for giving thanks.

Days of Roar Tigers Podcast: Detroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers joins Days of Roar; Tarik Skubal wins 2024 AL Cy Young. 60 minutes.

Detroit Tigers catcher Jake Rogers joins the "Days of Roar" podcast to chat with Evan and Mark about Tarik Skubal winning the 2024 American League Cy Young Award. Rogers also talks about calling pitches and making in-game adjustments, his relationship with manager A.J. Hinch, being named a Gold Glove finalist, why "pitching chaos" worked in 2024 and his excitement for the 2025 season.
Aside from Rogers, Evan and Mark tip their cap to Hinch for finishing third in AL Manager of the Year Award voting and break down the roster moves made by the Tigers, which included pitching prospect Tyler Mattison.

Alex Bregman is a good fit for the Tigers.
The veteran third baseman remains a very good all-around player as he finally reaches free agency.
